Kia's eyes fluttered open, the sound of the system alert pulling him back to consciousness. His head throbbed, and his body felt heavy, but he was still alive.
"Ugh…" he groaned, trying to sit up. His entire body ached as if he had been hit by a truck. He blinked a few times, his vision gradually focusing, and then he realized he was no longer on the roof or in the SUV but in a small, dimly lit room.
"You're finally awake," Sarah said, stepping inside the room to sit beside him. "How are you feeling?" she asked.
"To be completely honest, I don't remember much of what happened, but damn! My body feels like it's been through a war," he groaned, his voice weak and a little shaky.
Sarah was silent. She lowered her head, and Kia could immediately tell there was something she wanted to say but was clearly struggling to voice.
"Is there a problem?" he decided to ask himself.
