The tower of talent, although called as such, was an enormous stone tablet that was symbolic to the people of Gormak as it was where the heroes of the past and the great knights and mages of the kingdom had their names carved in honor of their deeds and contributions. The talent stone was a somewhat translucent gem that was used to measure the grade of one's talent using the colors it produced to show the quality or strength of someone's talent. One's talent could either be white, orange, blue, purple, red or black from the weakest to the strongest.
As the children waited for the test to begin, Zephyr arrived with his parents. The family was dressed casually as they did not want to attract too much attention. Although that did little to help given the fact that the entire kingdom already knew their King and Queen no matter the attire they appeared in.
"Welcome, your majesties." "Greetings, your majesties." The people said one after another as they bowed in greeting and reverence. "Please rise, we are all here for the same reason isn't it?" King Andy said as he addressed the citizens. "Yes my lord. The test is to commence soon. I take it that little prince Zephyr is going to be testing with us too?" One of the citizens said. "Why yes he will. We look forward to the good news our children will be bringing us soon. They are the future of the kingdom after all." King Andy said.
A few moments later, a mage dressed in red robes came forward to address the people. It was the mage in charge of the talent test, Jim. "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. We are here today to test the talent of these children and determine their future paths from here on out. Now I will tell you that not all of us will get the desired results which we want, but that doesn't mean it is the end of the journey for our children. Now, with that being said, I will now begin the talent test. Come forward if you hear your name and place your hand on the stone. The color it gives will be the result of your test."
After addressing everyone, Jim started the test as he called each candidate on the stage. Most of the children were between orange and purple, with few of them being either white or red. It was finally Zephyr's turn. "Zephyr Allington." 'The King and Queen must be here.' Jim said to himself. "Allington? Isn't that the royal family?" "The prince is here?!" Everyone started chattering to themselves in surprise as not everyone was aware of the King's presence.
As Zephyr walked out, silence ensued as everyone was expectant of the result which the child of the two strongest people in the kingdom would present to them. After all, he wasn't just any ordinary child. By the time he got to the stone on the stage, there was complete silence. He stretched his hand forth, ready to place his hand on the stone. When his hand made first contact with the stone, there was no reaction from the stone. He stood there for a few minutes; his parents scared that he would break down because he had no talent. However, just as he was about to leave the stage in gloom, something unexpected happened.
