Halfway through her sentence, Natalie suddenly covered her mouth, looking at Charlotte with a bit of panic, her tone frantic: "Charlotte, please don't listen to my nonsense. Ava is so good to us; there's no way she would do such a thing."
Charlotte already had a grudge against Ava for favoring Thomas, and Natalie's words made her think it might actually be possible. After all, Thomas was tall and handsome, albeit a bit wooden, but some career-driven women might be attracted to his type. Moreover, this wasn't the first time someone had mentioned it; Harper had subtly brought it up before. The more Charlotte thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. She suddenly clapped her hands, her expression serious but her tone betraying a hint of excitement.
"Natalie, you're just too young. These things… you never know. Besides, Ava's favoritism towards Thomas is obvious. Maybe you're right."
