"You've got it wrong, Nathan. I really want to see Ryan. Poor thing hasn't seen me all day; who knows what he's thinking about me."
Ava struggled to get up as she spoke, but Nathan held her tightly around the waist, his smile tinged with regret.
"But Ryan was already asleep when I came in. Now, Ava, let's talk about my second condition."
As he finished speaking, Nathan grasped Ava's chin and kissed her...
The next morning, when Ava got up, she felt as if her whole body was falling apart. Her back ached, she felt weak all over, and her throat was sore.
It was all Nathan's fault! As Ava lay in bed silently cursing Nathan, the door opened. Without looking, Ava knew who it was and turned over, unwilling to face him.
"Still mad at me?"
Nathan's amused voice came from behind her, making Ava feel both angry and embarrassed. She pulled the covers over her head.
