Patrick thought it over and decided to call and ask directly; otherwise, his curiosity would drive him crazy. Nathan was a bit surprised to receive Patrick's call.
"Nathan, tell me the truth. Are you going after the Martinez family because of Ava?"
As soon as Nathan answered the call, Patrick's urgent voice came through, full of impatience. Nathan noted that Patrick had indeed grown smarter, but so what? Even if Patrick had guessed correctly, Nathan would never admit it.
"No."
"How could it not be? Daniel is Alex's friend, and Ava is with Alex..."
"By your logic, wouldn't it make more sense for me to go directly after Alex? Why would I go out of my way to target Daniel?" Nathan countered.
"That's exactly why I called to ask you," Patrick scratched his head. He had considered countless possibilities over the past few days, but each one he ended up dismissing.
