"Some issues can't just be brushed off with words. I won't pursue this matter further, understood?"
Chloe was on the verge of tears from Ethan's stern tone. She nodded, trying to suppress the stinging in her eyes. Ethan, unmoved by her distress, turned and headed upstairs. He had intended to check on Ava but hesitated, not wanting to disturb her. After a moment's pause, he decided to leave.
Once Ethan was gone, Chloe could no longer hold back her tears. Aunt Taylor, seeing this, began to console her with a sympathetic tone. "Miss Chloe, I've watched you grow up. Seeing you like this breaks my heart, and I'm sure Mrs. Sterling would feel the same."
Chloe cried even harder. She had never been treated so unfairly in her life. "Don't worry, Miss Chloe, I won't let you suffer in vain."
Chloe instinctively protested, "Don't do anything to my brother."
