Alex was still in the country, diligently working through his plans. Everything was going smoothly. When his phone rang, and he saw Ava's name on the screen, his heart skipped a beat.
Since their last parting, they hadn't been in touch. Eagerly, Alex pressed the answer button. "Ava."
"It's me. How have you been?"
Alex had heard about the Ford family's bankruptcy and wasn't sure how to comfort Ava. He replied awkwardly, "I've been alright. And you?"
