Chapter 132 - The Trap

Once again, Ava's understanding of the man before me deepened unexpectedly. She had pegged him as a cool, tough, bad boy, but she hadn't anticipated his childish side. The game of Go he was engrossed in was something she hadn't touched since middle school. Knowing just the right sequences made you unbeatable, but that was exactly what she wanted!

 

After losing five rounds in a row, Patrick Hill's demeanor had shifted from relaxed to intensely focused with each move. Meanwhile, Ava, holding the black pieces, watched him leisurely, almost tauntingly.

 

"Are you going to make a move? It's been almost a minute," she pressured.

 

"Don't rush me!" Patrick responded, staring seriously at the board.

 

Ava sighed, pointed to a spot on the board, and said resignedly, "Why don't you just go here?"

 

Enlightened, Patrick placed his piece exactly there. However, ten moves later, he lost to Ava again.
