Nathan patted Ava on the head with a smile and said, "Wait here for me, I'll be right back." Ava responded with an OK sign and began to pick up shells on the beach after Nathan left. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed several men in black suits that seemed eerily familiar.
Standing up to get a better look, Ava recognized them as the same men who had been watching her at the hillside villa. The memory soured her mood instantly.
When Nathan returned with the coconut water, he found Ava with a frosty expression. "What's wrong? Did someone upset you?"
"I saw those men in black again. Are you still having me watched?" Ava glared at Nathan, frustrated. She had agreed to live peacefully with him, so why didn't he trust her?
Nathan gently touched Ava's head, trying to soothe her. "I'm just trying to protect you. We're in a foreign country, and you're pregnant. It's better to be cautious."
