With a smile and a tone that suggested she was acting in Nathan's best interest, she approached and took hold of Nathan. "As a woman myself, I know a woman's mind best. Besides, you're my son; how could I possibly harm you?" Diana said, glancing over at Iris and winking covertly.
Iris, momentarily stunned, quickly realized that Nathan's reluctance to stay might partly be because of her. She swiftly stood up.
"I've stayed long enough today. Thank you for your hospitality, Aunt Diana. I'll visit another time."
Diana nodded with a smile and summoned the butler to see her guest out. Once alone with Nathan, her face beamed with maternal affection. "It's just us family here, why not stay over tonight?"
Nathan sat down silently, his gaze dropping to the cellphone on the table, torn about whether to inform Ava of his whereabouts at the family estate.
