As the end of the workday approached, Ava was just about to pack up her things and head out for dinner with Zoe when Nathan walked in, holding a large bouquet of roses.
"Nathan, weren't you supposed to be on a business trip?" Ava exclaimed, shocked to see him suddenly appear.
"I finished up early, and of course, I couldn't miss being here for your birthday," Nathan said with a smile, handing her the roses.
"So, you knew!" Ava responded, her tone a mix of surprise and delight. She had thought Nathan was completely unaware of her birthday.
Nathan gently ruffled Ava's hair, his voice soft. "I remember everything about you, how could I possibly forget your birthday?"
Standing to the side and somewhat sidelined, Zoe muttered to herself, feeling like she had just swallowed a large dose of 'couple feed'.
