"Yeah," Ava chuckled awkwardly, knowing her excuse was a bit far-fetched, then turned to Alex. "Alex, what brought you to have coffee with Nathan today? Haven't you been really busy these past few days?"
"I actually came looking for you today, but I ran into Mr. Ford at the studio," Alex explained without hiding anything. "He suggested we grab a coffee, so here I am."
Ava glanced disapprovingly at Nathan, suspecting he was up to something. Nathan touched his nose, his gaze darting away as his voice trailed off. "I heard Alex left the studio, so I wanted to invite Alex to join my company..."
"That's true, but I have my own plans, so I declined Mr. Ford's offer," Alex responded.
Nathan was surprised by Alex's words, wondering if Alex was speaking up for him because he was afraid Ava would question today's events.
