Chapter 50 - The Gift

As he spoke, Nathan glanced unintentionally at Ava and was baffled by her glaring eyes, filled with animosity.

 

He wondered to himself, "All I did was have a tea, could that possibly be wrong? Or did I say something off?"

 

Nathan reviewed his words and couldn't find anything inappropriate.

 

"Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked.

 

Ava gave Nathan a cold look and scoffed.

 

"Mr. Ford, you really are full of schemes, aren't you?"

 

Nathan was perplexed. "What have I done now to deserve such an accusation? You can't just throw such a big accusation at me like that."

 

Feeling genuinely wronged, Nathan had come with joy, thinking of their past as a married couple and genuinely wanting to make amends with Ava.

 

But to his dismay, before he even warmed his seat, he was met with sarcasm, which dampened his spirits significantly.
