But didn't he already know the memories of the future from the meteo- Arthur's thought process halted.

Now that the gods had descended, it was impossible to rely on those memories now as every action which would be made now would be an alteration to the timeline he had seen in those memories.
In that sense, this effect was quite reliable as it would show him the snippets of future taking the gods' descent into account.
