Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Some shit happened

(I tried writing it in THIRD POV)

As they arrived at the metal fence that isolated the cabin from the world and somehow with Jepps amazing driving skills the bus stayed intact. the kids exit the bus and explore the place with Aimee and Jepp, following them from behind, their tense shoulder visibly relaxed a bit.

Jess parked his heavenly, sick, beautiful bike, Bear then came up to him while maintaining distance of course and said. "Hey, I'm sorry if i came up rude a while back. it's just so unexpected that I didn't know how to react."

Jess waved it off as he slung his gun into his shoulder "It's fine. I'm not gonna die anyway."

Bear being skeptical opened her mouth and said. "How so?"

Jess then proceeded to open the compartment of his heavenly, sick, and beautiful bike and take out the red eerie bottled cure.

"With this." Jess said as he twirled it around his finger.

Bear now gawking feeling like a fish out of water said. "Ho- hold up," She said as she signaled Jess to stop with her hands. "I'll get Aimee and Jepp." She said as she rushed towards where Jepp and Aimee are located not giving Jess a chance to talk.

"Shit..." Said Jess as he grabbed his hair in a panic. 'Now Aimee's gonna ask me if I killed a hybrid for this!'

Jess sighed and accepted his fate. "Whatever. I'm the only one to blame."

[Minutes later]

"THIS IS UTTERLY OUTRAGEOUS!" Screamed Aimee as Jepp remained unmoving his face filled with confusion and doubt as he muttered "But... how?"

"I already told you didn't I?" Jess sighed as he slumped down on the ground.

"Mind repeating it again for my sake?" Said Bear as she approached us and sat a feet away from me. Then she turned to Aimee and Jepp and said, "Don't worry, the kids are taking a nap." Receiving a grateful nod from Aimee.

"Sure, why not, I guess..." Jess said as he gave up and started explaining. "So anyway, my dad is some sort of plant beeder, then the Sick started, and we got separated, and some stuff happened." He took a pause to suck up some air and continued. "So I got interested in the purple flower, so I started experimenting, and rumor says that it gets us sick. And yes, it's true, but before that, the flowers will make you hallucinate, and then those pores have the sick in them. But here's what something I found out. I didn't get sick. I just hallucinate, and that's it. The main reason? Hopes hair." Said Jess as he stopped talking to let Aimee, Jepp, and Bear process what they just heard.

"YOU-" Bear gasped, but she was cutted off by Jess as he held his hands up and said. "HOLD UP! before you get any nasty ideas in that mind of yours, listen to me first..." He trailed on as he looked at their faces, all having the same expressions, thinned lips with their faces filled with confusion and bated breath. He opened his mouth and said. "Hopes Hair has some sort of mysterious qualities that prevent you from getting ill, so I wondered what would happen if I were to mix the hallucinogen or also called purple flower with something resistant to it, and it made this." He then raised his hand and showed them the eerie red blood vial in his palm.

Aimee looking skeptical asked, "How sure are you, that that thing is the cure?"

Jess nodded and said, "Yes, it is. Look, I'll prove it to you." He then opened the bottle and drank it. Aimee, Jepp, and Bear jaw dropped at the scene in front of them.

"Jesus! Are you mental!?" Said Jepp as he rushed to Jess, not caring if he gets infected as he shakes Jess back and forth repeatedly. "Th-e na-me's Je-es!" Of course, my good joke fell upon deaf ears as Jepp continued to shake me before Aimee put a stop to it.

"Jess! Raise your pinky." Said Aime- no Aimee ordered.

Jess raised his hand and raised his pinky for the world to see, and the trembling is slowing and slowing till his pinky is perfectly still. "See, it worked. Not a doubt in my mind." Jess said while on the inside he sighed heavily, relieved that this system procured Cure is the real deal.

Aimee and Jepp laughed in relief, seeing it is The Cure whilst Bear smiled happy that Jess wouldn't make Hope brotherless. "Jess! Now that the cure is in your system, we can just get some of your blood and distribute it or something so that everyone will become immune!" Jepp exclaimed while Aimee and Bear widened their eyes, then nodded in agreement to Jepperds' words.

"Uhhh, I don't think it works like that." As soon as Jess said that, their happy expression dimmed down to confusion, looking at me with one simple question, 'Why?'.

Jess sighed and looked at them with pity and said. "You see, I drank it. So that means there are no cures present in my blood. Because I think that it just went into my flesh or something..." Jess trailed off. He hesitated to continue not wanting to spoil their evening.

"What?" Spat Bear impatiently. "Spill it." She added.

Grumbling, Jess hesitantly opened his mouth and said. "You'll have to cut me to pieces to figure out where the cure resided in my body."

"What!?" X2

Both Jepp and Aimee hang opened their mouth in shock while Bear seems like she's contemplating it.

[----‐-------------------------------------------]

The night came. Thus, all the energetic little hybrids went to sleep along with their respective parents/siblings.

Jess almost alseep as his eyes felt a little droopy while Hope has fallen in deep sleep as she murmurs some names of pastries in her dream. Jess looked to the side and saw Gus walking away from the cabin. 'What's he doing all wide awake in the middle of the night.' He continued to watch Gus's eyes shone through the dark, looking around, checking if anyone saw him, and he continued heading straight to the fences.

"He's heading where Bear is."Jess whispered as Hopes ear twitched ever so little.

"Sigh*, and it's about time we switch as well." Jess then got up very carefully to not wake up his sleeping sister. And went towards where Bear is at.

As Jess arrived, he saw Bear sneaking quietly on some bushes as she looked onto the seemingly empty field outside the fence. Jess then whistled the Twitter notification alerting Bear of his presence.

Bears head then whipped around. Till it finally settled on Jess. "There you are, and here I thought you fell asleep and forgot about our arrangement." Jess softly chuckles. "I almost did until I saw Gus heading towards this way." Confusion appeared on Bears face

"Gus? Isn't he supposed to be asleep?"

"He is, but I guess he came here to get some fresh air."

"Or... He's contemplating his whole existence right now." Jess added. Making Bear give him a weird look.

"You'll stay virgin if you keep that up." Bear said as she sofly laughed and looked on the empty tree lines.

"Actually, I'm no longer a virgin." Jess proudly said as he sat right next to her.

"Really?" Said Bear as he looked at him like he did some kind of miracle.

"Yes, really." Said Jess while he rolled his eyes at Bear.

"Who is it then?" Bear asked, her eyes gleaming in curiosity and some sort of unexplainable hunger.

"Well, that's a story for another time because it seems like our resident hybrid has arrived." Jess said as he looked on to his right side and saw Gus sitting and deep in thought in his own little world. Bear, grumbled something under her breath then looked at where Jess is looking at and saw Gus sitting all alone... so vulnerable.

Bear then got up and started to head towards where Gus is but Jess stopped her with a shake of his head and a firm hand on her shoulder. "Don't, it seems like he wants to be alone... plus I think I hear Jepp in the distance."

"Sweet Tooth, come back please!" Said the distraught Jepp and with a breathtaking pause, Gus answered back "I'm here." Jepp heavily sighed in relief and walked towards Gus his tense shoulders loosening. "Were you worried? Sorry." Gus said, still looking forward. Now, that made Jess wonder what he is looking at. Jess followed where Gus's gaze was on and...

"Holy Fuck..." Jess muttered at the unexpected sight he saw. "What?" Said Bear as she followed his gaze. "What is that?" Jess frowned and said to her. "The Aurora Borealis, or better known as the Northern Lights. It shouldn't be here."

"It's breathtaking..." Bear whispered as she admired the Northern Lights.

Jess nodded in agreement. "It is. But, I think it's time to stop admiring it and look forward." Jess then redirected his gaze from the Nothern Lights to the silhouette of light in the distance.

Bear snarled at Jess. "I swear if you're trying to make a motivational quote, i-" But Jess shussed her and grabbed her head and turned her head towards the light. Now, a sound of an engine reverberate throughout.

Jess squinted his eyes, trying to distinguish the dark riding figure. "Hmm... oh, i think it's Tigger." He said as Bear looked at him and said, "How can you be so sure that it's my b- I mean Tiger?" Jess raised an eyebrow at Bears wording and brushed it off in the back of his mind. "You know the Tiger shaped helmet." He said as he gestured his hand around his head.

The motorcycle swerved left and right. Bear widened her eyes, fearing the worst, and ran towards where Tigger was. "Tiger!!" She screamed as Jess, Jepp, and Gus soon followed but at a moderate pace.

Jess now noticed that Tiger was missing her right arm. Blood seeped from the stump where her arm used to be, and the sight made Jess's heart sink.

"Tiger!!" Bear cried again, reaching her side, kneeling down. "What happened to your arm!?"

Tiger's eyes closed for a moment, exhaustion overtaking her. "First, we have to get out of here. We shouldn't stay in one place for too long. They're looking for Gus and Hope. And when they find them..."

Jess clenched his fists, his mind spinning. He couldn't let them take Hope. He couldn't let them get to the kids. Not after everything they'd been through. "Where's Richard? My Father?" Jess mumbled.

Tigers voice was weaker now, but there was a grim certainty in her words. "He betrayed us."

Jess froze. His blood ran cold. "What?" he whispered, his voice shaking.

Tiger nodded slowly, her face tight with pain. "Richard. Your father. He's working with the LastMen."

"Richard?" Jess echoed, disbelief crashing over him. "My dad?"

"Yeah," Tiger said, her voice full of bitter regret. "He revealed to me that they're going to 'extract' Hope and Gus. I don't know what that means but I'm guessing it's deeply bad. he's the one who baited us to walk right into their trap. Then Abbot chopped my arm as a 'Warning'."

Bear gritted her teeth "Where are the others?"

Tigers eye dimmed even more as she opened her mouth and said. "Gone, reduced to ashes."

"Come'on, we have to treat that chop wound of yours you're losing too much blood." Spoke Jepp as he carefully picked up Tiger and started walking towards the cabin with Gus following behind him while glancing at Jess, whose brown eyes is devoid of light.

Bear's expression hardened, a deep sense of determination flickering behind her eyes. She kept her gaze fixed on Tiger, her face a mixture of anger and concern. "Just rest my Tiger... we'll deal with it."

Jepp's steps were steady, but his face betrayed the weight of the situation. He glanced at Gus, whose worried eyes flicked from Tiger to the others. They were walking into danger, and they all knew it. The cabin was only a short distance away, but each step felt like it stretched on forever.

Jess's silence was a heavy presence in the air. His brown eyes, once filled with warmth, now stared ahead like hollow echoes. He wasn't saying much, but they could all sense the storm brewing inside him.

Gus, standing near the door of the cabin, clenched his fists as he looked at Tiger. "We're not letting them get away with this. If they're coming here, then we'll need to defend it. This is my home, I'm not gonna let Abbot and his army destroy the only place that I call Home.

Jepp nodded, though his voice was strained. "We'll figure it out. But first, we need to get Tiger patched up. We're no good to anyone if we're all bleeding out."

They reached the cabin, and Jepp carefully set Tiger down on a cot. Bear moved quickly, grabbing what little medical supplies they had left. Her hands worked with precision as she began to treat the wound, her mind racing with the implications of what Tiger had said. Abbot, the betrayal, and the loss of their comrades—it was too much to process at once.

While holding Tigers' remaining arm, Bear murmured, more to herself than anyone else. "They'll pay for this."

Jess stepped forward, his voice low but firm. "We don't have time to waste. We must prepare now, or we'll lose everything."
