Chapter 6 - Talisman Tower

The tour with instructor Feng lasted for five hours, and in this short time, he was able to take the students around the facilities of MSU. Before the tour was over that day, the students were privileged to see Senior Brother Tekedor performing a profound controlling skill via the huge screen outside the battle lab.

As the students stood in awe of Senior Brother Tekedor's lightning strike technique, Instructor Feng's commanding voice cut through the captivating display.

"Enough admiration for now," he declared, his tone brooking no argument. "Remember this moment, for it's just a glimpse of the challenges and power awaiting you at Monster Slayer University."

With those words hanging in the air, the students reluctantly tore their gazes from the screen, their minds now filled with a mixture of anticipation and determination as they followed Instructor Feng to their next destination.

The lightning strike battle technique was a mysterious battle technique that Senior Brother Tekedor made after his breakthrough to the invisible controller level. Before reaching this stage he had already been above his peers, he was considered the best student at Monster Slayer University followed by Senior Brother Ketas, a powerful alchemist. Senior Brother Ketas has been focused on the study of Transmutation, which was hindering him from breaking through to the Invisible alchemist level where he would be able to make pills that can boost body strength and technique by 100% for 24 hours and also create pills that will allow him to change form. Everyone feared how formidable Senior Brother Ketas would become after his breakthrough.

Senior Brother Ketas witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of the virus that led to the mutation of once-peaceful creatures into ferocious beasts. Among these creatures were his family members, who succumbed to the virus and transformed into monstrous beings.

Driven by a desire to find a way to reverse the mutations and restore the humanity of those affected, Senior Brother Ketas delved deep into the study of Transmutation. He believed that by mastering the art of Transmutation, he could uncover secrets that might hold the key to reversing the mutations caused by the virus.

Additionally, Senior Brother Ketas saw Transmutation as a means to create protective barriers, potions, and tools that could aid in combating the mutated beasts and defending humanity against future outbreaks of the virus. His dedication to Transmutation stemmed from a deep-seated determination to protect others and find a solution to the ongoing crisis caused by the virus.

As a result, Senior Brother Ketas channeled all his energy and focus into mastering Transmutation, hoping that his research and discoveries would eventually lead to a breakthrough in the fight against the mutated beasts and the virus that plagued Earth.

… … ..

The freshers (newly admitted students at MSU) were temporarily placed in the Talisman Tower where three students got to share a room.

Talisman Tower is a massive, ancient 20-story building that serves as a temporary residence for newly admitted students before the placement test at Monster Slayer University. It can house over 5 thousand students.

Located within Talisman Tower is a serene meditation courtyard, a favored spot among students who gather there at night for meditation sessions under the ancient Talisman Tree. This tree, nurtured by Talisman, a Genetic Guardian of Paladin who achieved advanced warrior status in less than 10 years, earned him a place among the revered paladins.

Talisman planted this tree with the intention of enhancing energy cores by tapping into Earth's natural energies.

The presence of the Talisman Tree within Talisman Tower is the reason why it has become the temporary residence for all incoming freshmen. The Genetic Guardians of Paladin have confirmed that it has the potential to increase the likelihood of an individual awakening a special energy core.

Aiden, Malakai, and Dan were roommates in the Talisman tower. Both Dan and Aiden were Vigorians except for Malakai who came from a highland in Euphoria – Banana Highland.

The Banana Highland was a small highland known for producing powerful warriors like Zaki who was among the top ten warriors on earth and of course the most powerful warrior in Euphoria. Banana Highland has been known for ages for always getting 60% of their admitted students at MSU into the elite faculty making Euphoria the second nation with the most elite students in MSU after Vigoria which had an acceptance rate of 75% of their indigenes into the elite faculty.

Admission into the elite faculty is competitive with a previous year's record acceptance rate of 5%. Historians wondered why a majority of the students admitted into the Elite faculties were from the nations of the top 10 greatest warriors on earth, soon they concluded that these nations were probably more affected by the mutation virus, leaving a huge amount of powerful energy behind. These places were therefore considered training grounds

~~~~Top 10 warriors in the world~~~~
Vigoria - 2 warriors
Euphoria – 1 warrior
Utopia – 2 warriors
Rochester – 2 warriors
Netherland – 3 warriors
Although Euphoria was second to Vigoria in terms of producing elite warriors, they were considered slow in their cultivation. Zaki the only Euphorian that was part of the top 10 warriors on earth was called the 5th Senior Brother.
Dan, Aiden, and Malakai quickly became close friends during the period they stayed at Talisman Tower awaiting the placement test.
Hey twinks, what are y'all still doing in bed Aiden cursed Dan and Malakai who had been sleeping since he left the room for the marketplace that morning
Brooo, stop shouting. Malakai scolded
Alright, alright, just listen to what I have to say…
Ok…
Ok …
When I was at the marketplace I overheard some senior students talking about the placement test…
Dan: So?
Malakai: What did they say?
Well, the placement test is in two days
Whoa~~
Whoa~~
Don't be so surprised guys, check your emails already you must have received one from the school. Aiden laughed and jumped into his bed, lying down facing the ceiling and smiling. Whereas for Dan and Malakai, it was as though the room became smaller, they were sweating as if they just came out from the bathroom… They quickly opened their emails to check
Dan and Malakai finished reading the mail at the same time and immediately stared at each other speechless, they were filled with a mix of excitement and anxiety. The placement test is what all the students have been waiting for, while some were confident of getting into the elite faculty, some didn't even want to take the test, they preferred to stay in the Talisman tower than go home, but these three folks had some faith that they could get in given their nationality.
Aiden intensified the amount of food he consumed during these last days at Talisman Tower, he didn't want to miss out on any of the dishes provided at the tower so he ensured that he tried all the dishes before the day of the placement test.
Dan couldn't eat that day and Malakai was having a sleepless night. As the heir of the Mukai Family which ruled over the Banana Highland in Euphoria, it would be a great shame if he was not admitted into the elite faculty. Malakai greatly feared what was to come if that should be the case.
A vivid memory from Malakai's childhood surfaced, of his father's stern yet encouraging words before a crucial battle. "You carry the honor of our family, Malakai. Show them what it means to be a warrior of the Banana Highland," his father had said, instilling in him a sense of responsibility that now weighed heavily on his shoulders.
The next day, Malakai was feeling better and optimistic. He noticed Dan's anxiety and decided to have a conversation with him, to ease the tension.
"Dan, you've been unusually quiet," Malakai remarked, raising an eyebrow. "Nervous much?"
Dan shrugged, attempting to downplay his anxiety. "Just trying to stay focused. It's a big day tomorrow."
Malakai chuckled, his confidence shining through. "Relax, buddy. We've got this. My father usually tells me that Fortune favors the bold!"
Dan couldn't help but smile at Malakai's infectious optimism. "I admire your confidence, Malakai. I wish I had a fraction of it."
"Hey, we complement each other," Malakai quipped. "You bring the calm, I bring the fire. Together, we'll blaze through this test!"
Their conversation was interrupted by Aiden, who was already in the room, devouring his meal. "Hey, you two, stop talking so much and start eating already. We need all the energy we can get for today."
Dan and Malakai exchanged amused glances at Aiden's straightforwardness. "Alright, alright," Dan replied with a chuckle. "We'll fuel up for the big day."
Malakai nodded enthusiastically. "No more talking, just eating. Got it, Aiden!"
