The screen flashed, the timer hit zero, and the game began. The arena awaited us.
As we entered the game, the unfamiliar layout flashed on my screen: three lanes, a jungle between them, and a base Nexus at each end of the map. My avatar, the young man with lightning powers, stood at the spawn point next to Nyssa's character. There was a character name and our gamertag next to it.
Her avatar had long silver hair, an elegant figure, and was dressed in flowing ethereal robes that shimmered like frost in the moonlight. She was a support mage, a character designed to heal and shield allies, while also being able to deal damage with frost-based magic.
Nyssa placed more weight on aesthetics than practicality, but her godlike skills allowed her not to be dragged down by this habit.
Our third teammate, 'Lifeweaver', was a robed figure holding a staff made of glowing vines. As the healer of our team, Lifeweaver's main role was to keep us alive during battles.
