"Hey, what do you mean by that? How did I taunt her?" I whispered to Merry's ear. The driver remained focused on the road, moving his head with the rhythm of the music coming out of his radio.
Merry blank in confusion, "You mean you didn't try to hurt her?"
"Uh, no? She could give me a bad grade if I did!"
The curly girl only shook her head, "Disappointing. And here I thought you broke free from her spell."
I was only getting more confused here. "Spells are real too? Does she cast spells? What kind of spells?"
"Not real spells, symbolic ones, big round symbols that you keep staring at!"
"Pfft-" I snorted in laughter when I realized we weren't on the same page at all. Not even the same book. "Wait, let's get it slowly. Why would you think that I wanted to offend her?"
"Aye…" she sighed, "Her makeup was ruined because she cried, but you told her she was happy and comfortable. Isn't that mocking?"
