I looked at Merry, finally able to see her entirely for who she really was. Not my twin sister but a stranger who barged into my life only to find herself belonging to me a few months later.
"I remember everything now," I said softly, "That's the truth, isn't it?" Suddenly, the thought that it might be new fake memories emerged, but they were too detailed to be false. Once you knew how fake memories felt, it was impossible to mistake them with real ones.
"Yes, I figured it'd be more convenient this way," Merry agreed, "Don't change the subject. You are mine, I won't share you."
We walked together, entering a suspiciously empty building that Merry led us to. Guessing she added a false memory to make everyone evacuate it for the near time was not too hard.
