"Hey Gramps!! Move, I want to sit here!"
Ugh, teenagers these days have no manners! AND I AM NOT THAT OLD. I am only 30, OK!!
I thought to myself, not like I would ever say this or argue with anyone. I am too timid for that and always avoid conflict.
And, plus, I am too tired today. Today was another hard day at work, like usual. This job is really getting exhausting now.
Maybe I am really getting old. As that thought crossed my mind, I glanced out at the bridge the bus was driving on, and something immediately snagged my attention: the edge of the bridge seemed to be getting closer to the bus!
NO! The bus is going to fall off the bridge!!
DAMN YOU, BUS DRIVER!!
As screams and loud sounds started fading from my surroundings and the world grew dark, I took my last breath in this world.
After what felt like a second or an infinite amount of time, I started to regain my vision and immediately noticed something very wrong!!
Why the heck is my vision so wide?! And everything appears less detailed than before too. That was the last thought before I regained a sense of my body, which felt incredibly strange. So strange that I completely tuned out everything else around me and focused on feeling my body.
It is very different compared to before. I can't sense my limbs like before and only seem to be aware of their location and position. WAIT. That's not the most important part!!
I have six LIMBS!!
My mind immediately plunged into chaos trying to comprehend what was happening. How could I have six limbs all of a sudden?
A million thoughts and emotions raced through my mind until one exploded and filled the entire space. I DIED in that bus accident and reincarnated as an insect!!
Immediately, everything started to fall into place and all those strange experiences started to make sense, so I slowly began to calm down, realizing that any more thinking won't change anything. So, I simply focused on my environment, which I had ignored amidst my mental turmoil.
My vision is still the same as I had observed earlier - a much broader field of view and significantly less detail compared to before, which makes sense since I am now an insect.
But all I could see around me was green - colossal shapes towering into the sky, most likely trees. It appears I am in a forest.
Looking down, it seemed that I was sprawled on a rock. Additionally, I caught sight of my insect limbs. Judging by their robust appearance, I am likely not a small insect like an ant. I presume I am some sort of beetle. However, I'll need to look at my reflection to confirm my suspicions.
And as I finally grasped my situation, I pondered what to do next, which was remarkably straightforward to decide since I was so hungry and my instincts urged me to seek sustenance.
