THE Rival
This mansion was big but it gave off an old-fashioned kind of appeal like it had been passed down from generation to generation and needed some remodeling.
Not too long after I got out of the car, I was shown into the living room where I waited about fifteen minutes for Brendan.
Brendan walked majestically into the room giving off the air of a spoilt heir but it did not faze me at all. I was only here to apologize and that was all.
"Here you are. Everyone said I was mistaken about you but look at you, as beautiful as ever."
He said as he sat in a chair opposite me.
I stood up immediately, not wanting to be here any longer than necessary.
"I was told I need to apologize to you so that my dad can keep his job, now here I am, I am sorry for standing you up."
"No, my dear. I'm afraid it is a lot more than that already."
"What do you mean?"
"Your dad will not be able to keep his job and I can do more harm than that if you don't give me a name."
"Name?"
"The name of the man you spent the night with."
How did he know? Dad!
"Why?"
"No one touches what is
His words kept echoing in my head as I went.
"No one touches what is mine."
I am not his and it seemed like I missed the part where he got the wrong memo. How exactly am I supposed to get us out of this mess right now? I knew nothing about the man except his address.
My phone beeped, it was my dad.
"I heard you failed to convince him to accept your apology. Don't return home until you find a way out of this."
"Dad, do you even know what he is asking me to do?"
"Just a name, Reece. Are you trying to protect him or what?"
"No, I don't even know him but it seemed like I don't know you anymore despite having lived with you all my life. Can you just let me take some things from the house?"
"Fine, but you should know that if you ruin this for me, I will never forgive you." I sighed as I headed home and when I arrived, I heard him talking in a loud voice.
"There he goes again, how come he keeps beating Brendan at this thing every year? If only I had a choice, I would marry my daughter to him instead."
I heard him say, it seemed he would marry me to anybody who had money, the thought made me sick.
But then, something caught my attention, it was the name on TV, then I saw the face. I may not have seen him clearly but his features were too distinct to not recognize him immediately.
"Oh my God!"
"You scared me! What is it now?"
"That is him."
"Who?
"The guy."
"Which gut are we talking about?"
I rolled my eyes as I moved closer.
"The guy I spent the night with."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
Dad asked, he began to laugh hysterically.
"If this is a joke, you have to stop it now."
"I am serious, Dad."
"What have you done!"
