The light in the area wasn't dim, allowing Kushimaru to clearly see Jinpachi rolling on the ground in a pathetic state. Jinpachi crashed into a tree trunk with a thud, while the words of the Konoha's Jonin echoed in his ears like needles pricking his nerves.
"Since you want to die so badly, I'll grant your wish." For ruthless individuals like Kushimaru, harsh words were always on the tip of their tongues.
Kushimaru was still wearing his old Kirigakure's ANBU mask. He mocked frivolously at Jinpachi who had just gotten up, "What are you doing? You can't even beat this kid?"
Jinpachi, wearing an eyepatch over his left eye, looked far less impressive than Kakashi. His expression was dark with anger as his body was covered in dirt.
"Shut up. I just wasn't taking it seriously."
Annoyed by the retort, Kushimaru flicked his long sword irritably, "You bastard."
Speaking of which, the relationship between the two has never been very good, leading to frequent arguments during battles. was no wonder they were called the 'Heartless Pair', not just by their enemies but also among themselves.
Logan frowned as he watched the two Seven Ninja Swordsmen bickering, 'Are they really a long-term team? No matter how I look at it, they all look more like a pair of Rogue Ninja forced together.
Regardless, the situation now is what he wanted. Logan glanced back towards Kakashi and Zabuza's fight, noticing that Team 7's students had joined in.
According to the development of the original work, he has nothing to worry about Kakashi. Logan then cautiously stared at the two Swordsmen who seemed to be finished arguing, and his gaze lingered at their weapons.
'Next it was time for my part in this altered storyline. I wonder how many panels the black-and-white manga would give me.'
Electricity crackled around Logan's body, maintaining a steady flow on his surface. He vanished from his spot, reappearing behind Jinpachi in the next moment.
"You said you weren't serious before, right? Then show me what serious you looks like." Logan taunted.
Jinpachi barely had time to turn in shock before Logan's fist sent him flying again.
"It doesn't seem like much..." Logan said with expressionless face, watching Jinpachi roll along the ground like a replay of their earlier encounter.
A flash of cold light came from the side. Logan's other hand, holding a kunai, met the attack head-on. With a clash, the kunai and the long sword collided.
With electricity coursing through his hand, Logan's kunai steadily pushed up, lifting the long sword involuntarily. Seeing this, Kushimaru's face, hidden behind his mask, changed color.
"The Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, huh? You don't seem that impressive. Or maybe you're just getting old?" Logan said with a chuckle.
The lightning surged and expanded. Blue electricity swiftly wrapped around Kushimaru's body from where the kunai met the sword.
"Ah! What kind of Chakra transformation is this?!" Kushimaru gasped, releasing his grip on the long sword and jumping back to escape the clutches of Chidori Nagashi.
Chidori Nagashi extended and seared his body, forcing Kushimaru to retreat further before he could finally escape its torment.
Logan dispelled the excess electricity and looked down at the long sword that the other party had dropped on the ground.
He reached to pick it up, but as he bent over, several silver wires suddenly sprang up from the ground, snapping taut in a grid pattern aimed at slicing his ankles.
Logan let out a light snort as the silver threads sliced through his lower limbs, and the long sword, Nuibari, seemed to come alive, slicing towards his chest. However, it hit nothing but a log, producing a puff of smoke. Wood chips then fell to the ground.
"Body Replacement Technique? That was fast." Kushimaru, whose clothes were half burnt, said unhappily. He twitched his fingers, and the long sword flew back into his hand.
"Jinpachi, it looks like we have to get serious." Kushimaru muttered darkly, adjusting the silver threads connected to his long sword, "That Raiden Hattori is no pushover."
"I know." Jinpachi's face twisted with anger. Being knocked away twice by the Konoha's Ninja who looked a generation younger than him was a great blow to his pride.
Logan stood on a tree trunk, calmly facing the two now-serious members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.
Facing two opponents at once was not difficult for him. During his three years away from Konoha, he had been working hard in his training, studying Forbidden Techniques, honing his chakra control, and constantly fighting against ANBU and Root's members as well as various enemies on Akatsuki missions.
His combat skills and overall abilities were top-notch. Though he wasn't sure how he'd fare against the highest-tier powerhouse of this world, dealing with two older Ninjas from a bygone era seemed manageable...
Twisting his kunai, Logan acknowledged the reputation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen. But a skilled fighter knew the true measure of strength after a single clash. He knew if their formidable swords with special abilities were taken away from them, these two would become mundane.
A few drops of cool water splashed onto the battlefield, possibly from the other ongoing fight. No one paid it any mind. Suddenly, a shuriken flew erratically through the air, embedding itself into a tree.
Like a signal, Logan and the 'Heartless Pair' simultaneously sprang into action, engaging in combat.
'Now, this is more like it.' Logan thought as he blocked, sidestepped, and parried. Logan held a kunai in each hand and withstood the attack of the 'Heartless Pair'. While the two's physical prowess couldn't match the enhancement from the Lightning Release Cell Activation, their numerical advantage translated their battle experience into a formidable challenge.
Kushimaru's long limbs and sword gave him a significant reach advantage, making it tricky for Logan. After all, every inch is longer is every inch stronger. Since it was difficult to deal with Kushimaru, he used Chidori Nagashi to try to overwhelm him directly, however, the Heartless Duo had gained experience and jumped away as soon as they saw Logan's lightning.
These large-scale Ninjutsu consumed significant Chakra. As Logan dispelled the Chidori Nagashi, Jinpachi let out a roar, seemingly venting his earlier frustrations. He brought down his Shibuki with great force.
Logan easily sidestepped, ready to counter during Jinpachi's wide attack. But his instincts warned him, and he quickly leaped away.
"Boom!"
An explosion, equivalent to several explosive tags, erupted where Logan had stood. glanced at the wreckage and remembered that Jinpachi's explosive sword concealed numerous Explosive tags, designed to maim enemies with its blasts. The wide-swinging attack was to avoid self-injury from the explosions.
Dusting off his dirty clothes, Logan threw his kunai and drew Shimizu, which was lying quietly on his thigh. (Note: Shimizu is Logan's short sword, which is previously called Clear Spring Sword. I'm changing the Clear Spring Sword to Shimizu, as using English as the sword name sounded strange.)
"Does he know Kenjutsu as well?" Kushimaru swatted away the incoming kunai and saw the serene, watery blade gleaming in Logan's grip.
