"Senpai, do you...know something?"
After Logan finished speaking, the atmosphere became quiet for a moment. The flames made a crackling sound on the firewood, and then Itachi spoke up.
"Well, I know a little about this." Logan scratched his head and said ambiguously, "Anyone who has been in the village for a long time would know something about the grudges between the Uchiha Clan and Konoha. However, the internal plotting of the Uchiha Clan for the coup is definitely known to few. Right now, it's probably just a beginning."
Itachi's dark eyes looked at Logan, "What do you think, Senpai?"
This question was very abrupt, and it was a bit sensitive coming from Itachi's mouth. Of course, Logan wasn't too concerned about political correctness or anything like that.
"I'm not an Uchiha, why should I bother thinking about it?" Logan's relaxed tone caught Itachi off guard, but after thinking about it for a moment, it was also the truth.
The topic stalled there. Logan cleared his throat and said, "I'm going to sleep," leaving Itachi alone by the campfire to ponder.
Inside the small tent, Logan lay there, lost in thought, 'Itachi must be thinking about life again. It was really hard for him to bear so much weight at such a young age.'
Logan didn't know what he could say, to change the fate of Uchiha Clan, or to save Itachi? Could he do it, and after that, what would it mean to him? The aftermath would only bring more trouble.
Besides, he hadn't reached the point of exposing his lofty ideals of saving others.
He should just focus more on himself.
The latter half of the night passed quickly. Logan got up and felt the morning sun on his face. He went to a nearby water source to wash up and refresh himself. There was often only a short rest during the mission, so Logan has been accustomed to this. After eating some dry rations, he and Itachi donned their masks and headed northwest.
Before long, they left the Land of Fire and entered the territory of the Land of Rain.
"This weather is really weird."
Logan reached out, and a raindrop fall into his hand. Soon, a continuous stream of raindrops fell, seemingly increasing in size.
The Land of Rain is located in the center of continent and is shrouded in rain all year round. It formed a stark contrast with the neighboring Land of Wind and Land of Earth. This is quite unscientific, but that was the reality.
Fortunately, Logan and Itachi had prepared raincoats and cloaks when they first learned about the mission's destination. After putting them on, they walked along the bumpy road to Amegakure.
The Land of Rain is very small. Logan and Itachi saw the Amegakure before noon. They looked at the increasing number of pedestrians in the distance, and saw there are many Ninjas among them. There were even Missing-nin, who had their forehead protectors scratched, walking on the road blatantly.
"We're almost there. Be careful not to be discovered as Konoha's Ninjas."
The two of them were walking on the road outside the village, and Logan whispered.
There was no sign of the rain letting up. Under the gloomy sky, the rain formed a curtain, dripping onto the ground. Logan is somewhat worried that Itachi wouldn't hear his words.
"Understood." Itachi replied.
From setting out in the morning until now, Itachi's behavior has been the same as before. It seemed that the inappropriate conversation from last night had been forgotten by both of them.
Soon, they arrived at the entrance of Amegakure. The specifications are naturally much inferior compared to Konoha Village. Two Amegakure's Ninjas hardly checked them and let Logan and Itachi in after taking their money.
Upon entering the village, most of the people on the streets were dressed similarly to Logan and Itachi, wearing raincoats and cloaks.
The buildings in Amegakure were designed with pointed roofs to adapt to the rainy weather, with only few having flat roofs.
Although the management of the small village was lax and the businesses seemed unenthusiastic, the drainage facilities on the streets were well-maintained, as there was only a small amount of water accumulation.
"According to the plan, I'll go explore the terrain of Amegakure, checking if the distribution of buildings consistent with the information provided by the village. You go to places like taverns to gather information."
After walking a while, Logan said to Itachi. They pretended to be wandering Ninja from various places. When walking on the streets, they intentionally or unintentionally revealed their ninja tools, but keeping their Chakra fluctuations low. Generally, such people are not very strong, otherwise, wandering Ninjas would choose to join a village and focus on taking missions for a living. Those who kept wandering, except for a few exceptions, were basically small figures that the Ninja Villages looked down upon.
After hearing this, Itachi nodded, glancing elsewhere with intentionally, and whispered: "There are two tails following us. Should I take care of them?"
"No need. They probably just weaklings who see us as easy targets to make some money off of. Let's try not to cause trouble and keep a low profile." Logan had already noticed two Ninjas tailing them from a distance, but as long as they weren't from Akatsuki, Logan didn't pay them any mind.
Logan paused for a moment before adding, "If they keep following, I'll handle it."
"Got it."
They walked for a while longer, then quickly split up at an intersection. After changing their walking pace, the two following Ninjas were left behind.
"Damn, they're gone."
A man cursed on the corner of the street.
"Forget it, they might be pretending. Let's go." His companion, with more experience, thought of a possibility and quickly pulled the other person away.
A few steps away in the shadow of an alley, Logan put away the kunai hidden in his sleeve, watched the figures of the two leave, and smirked, "You guys are lucky."
Ignoring these two people, Logan determined the direction and walked slowly through the rain.
In fact, considering Itachi's age, going to places like taverns wasn't very appropriate. Although in a place like Amegakure, where all sorts of people mingled, there were children and teenagers in their early teens joining gangs and even committing murder, Logan's appearance was always more suitable than Itachi for such thing.
Sitting in a tavern and listening to others was definitely easier than wandering around in a Ninja Village. So Logan thought that as the team leader, he should take more responsibility.
'The higher the attractiveness, the greater the responsibility.' Logan comforted himself in this way.
As someone more handsome than Itachi... well, it's his responsibility!
