Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

The power of the psychic flames was so strong that even the soldiers crossing the bridge felt the hot air coming at them.

Looking at the burning terrace across the street and the thin but magnificent figure in the flames, the soldiers had nothing but awe in their eyes.

Is this the power possessed by the Emperor's son?

Seconds later, in the midst of the fire, Jack's form leaped.

His body bounced up like a discharged cannonball and landed on the opposite terrace across a distance of more than thirty meters.

Take the hallway to the lower level of Nestor!

Facing the reverent, awe-inspiring gazes of the soldiers, Jack said only this.

Then, he raised his hand and waved it.

It was as if the communication tower behind them was pushed by an invisible hand and fell towards the earth.

Jack then hurried out of the building with a group of soldiers.

Scuffling footsteps echoed sharply in the dimly lit hallway.

Everyone knew they had to scramble.

They must leave this building before the mutants catch up with them.

Otherwise, they would still be blocked by the mutants on the high ground.

Are they following?

I don't know; it doesn't seem to be moving.

No movement is best. We're safe.

In the lower levels of the Nestorian capital, in one of the freight lanes.

Due to the war, the power system in the lower levels of Nestor has long since failed regionally.

It was dark as hell in the freight aisle, and you couldn't see out of the corner of your eye.

Only a beam of light faintly dispersed the darkness, reflecting some human figures.

The beams came from the gun lights on the laser rifles the soldiers were holding.

The freight corridor is the main transportation route for materials in the lower part of Nestor.

The space is not large, about seven meters wide and five meters high, with two lanes in each direction.

Because it's underground, it looks similar to a tunnel.

Captain, no word from Command, but I have contacted Company Commander Bryan of the 17th Regiment; they are fighting the mutants in Sector 32, and Company Commander Bryan is gathering up the remnants and ordering us to rally to Sector 32.

District 32?

In the darkness, Fernande in the group frowned slightly.

Sector 32 is not close to this place.

They're south of the Star Harbor Towers, and Sector 32 is north.

To get to Sector 32, you have to walk at least 40 or 50 kilometers.

If you go on foot, it takes three or four days.

And the supplies they had on them would only last two days at most.

It's not hard to find food and water in the lower levels of the nesting capital, though.

But right now, the lower neighborhoods of Nestor are a place of wrongdoing.

There is a very high probability that if you go in, you won't come out.

After all, the source of the mutants is in the lower levels of Nestor.

Only the lower levels of the dragons and snakes of the nesting capital can nourish the mutants and allow them to grow little by little.

Captain Fernande, is there any fast-moving transportation in the lower levels of the Nest?

In the darkness, Jack's voice rang out behind Fernande.

Fernand answered, Yes, there are magnetic railroad trains, and that's a surface passenger route.

Then head to ...

In the darkness, Jack's voice screeched to a halt.

In the freight corridor, all the soldiers stopped in unison.

For a moment, the sound of footsteps in the darkness died down.

No good, they're catching up ...

Just behind the group, deep in the darkness, there was a stray movement.

There were growls and the sound of dense footsteps.

In the darkness, in the light of the gun lamps, a hint of fear surfaced on the faces of the soldiers.

Slap ...

Suddenly, a red light flashed in the depths of the darkness.

Dense red laser beams instantly whistled across a distance of a hundred meters.

It was closely followed by the sound of snapping shots.

Thumbs up ...

The attack came too suddenly.

Several soldiers in the rear were immediately hit by several laser beams and fell to the ground.

Let's go. I'll take the rear!

In the darkness, a blue glow welled up in Jack's pupils.

He turned and walked up, space twisting in front of him.

All incoming laser beams were frozen in the air.

Dazzling red laser beams dispelled the darkness around them, turning everything a blinding red.

Withdraw, withdraw!

Seeing this, Fernande hastily gave the order to retreat.

In the freight tunnel, Fernande led his crew in a hasty evacuation.

They ran and soon disappeared into the depths of darkness.

And in front of Jack, the laser beams that were being framed became denser and denser as more and more laser beams came in.

Fighting all the way over here, Jack was always feeling tired.

No, it wasn't exhaustion; it was a rhythmic tingling sensation in the brain.

That feeling was very clear.

Jack understood that the trick of attacking with a mind defense was too much of a drain on the spirit.

It's not a good move to use often, not for juggling.

Back to you ...

With a cold snort, Jack raised his right hand and thrust it forward.

The red laser beam that was fixed in the air in front of his body suddenly returned the same way and rushed into the depths of darkness.

The dense red laser beams formed a wall of red light sweeping toward the depths of darkness.

Wherever it passed, the darkness was receded.

About seventy meters away, the red light intensity met an obstacle.

That's the gene stealers, or mutants, as the soldiers call them.

Thumbs up ...

The red curtain of light rushed into the crowd, and the mutants fell down in a big way.

Huh?

In the darkness, Jack's face suddenly changed.

He turned to look deeper into the darkness, his face clouded over.

Just deep in the darkness, there was a red glow flickering.

It was the glow from the red laser beams fired from the laser rifle.

But soon, the red glow stopped shining.

[Unfortunately, the mission failed. Please try again. Contribution points - 10,000]

The mission failed?

Jack heard it, heard the roar of the purebloods in the depths of the darkness.

Fernande and the others are dead?

Phew ...

With a bitter smile on his face, Jack took a deep breath.

He'd taken care of Fernande and the others, but he hadn't realized that he still couldn't finish the job.

Fernande and the others were still too vulnerable in the face of the gene stealers.

As long as he wasn't there, even for a short while, they wouldn't be able to survive a genestealer attack.

Not to mention the fact that it was a pureblood that attacked them.

In a flash, Jack dodged the incoming laser beam from behind.

Then he turned and ran wildly through the freight tunnel.

Its speed was so fast that the naked eye could only see a flash of phantoms.

The sensitivity of its body kept dodging and dodging the laser beams.

There were enemies in front and behind, and mutants with guns were a greater threat than purebloods.

Jack can't defend against attacks from behind while attacking purebloods.

He had no choice but to destroy the mutants first.

Although a little concerned about Fernande and the others dying and a little concerned about the mission failing.

But it was a game, after all, and Jack was more than annoyed that the mission had failed.

It was hard for Jack to accept that he was so strong that he would fail his first mission.

Die, and the wrath of the Emperor will cleanse you of your filth!

Braving the rain of bullets, Jack rushed to the mutant's heels.

With a loud, middle-of-the-road bellow, the fire dragon swept out.

In an instant, the loss of the freight lane flashed with a fiery glow.

Raging, surging flames filled every inch of the narrow freight tunnel.

It was like a wave of fire that rolled and swept toward the back.
