Unfortunately, James had already answered the call and it was a video call.
"Mr James! Mr James!". Annie screamed immediately that the call had been answered.
"Get rid of her and pass me that phone". Amanda instructed.
Amandaaa! James' voice thundered from the phone.
"Hey darling, how's your business trip going?". She teased.
"What are up to this time? What have you done?". His voice bore anger.
"You shouldn't disturb yourself with the activities of the house but with the affairs of money. Enjoy your stay, okay". Amanda blew him a kiss as she hung up on him.
"Excuse me ma'am. We've got a problem". One of the guards announced.
"Oh! What problem". Amanda responded and stamped her foot.
"The authorities are here".
"What! He called the authorities on me? Damn. Lead the way". She instructed.
"Yes ma'am". The guard replied as he made his way to the front yard while Amanda walked behind him.
"I believe that you are Miss Amanda Samson". One of the cops said.
"Yes, I am, and why are you here?". Amanda asked with impatience.
"We got a report that you're harboring some individuals here". The cop replied.
"No, no. You are wrong, they are here on their own will, I did not force anyone to be here including you".
"Okay. That would be taken when I have a word with them".
"Help! Help!". Anne's voice came out from a distance.
"Did you hear that?". The cop asked her colleagues while they nodded their heads in agreement. "Micheal, have a look". She instructed her junior colleague.
"No! You can just intrude into my home". Amanda opposed.
"Your home? Well, the owner of this building sent us to carry out an inspection and that's exactly what we are going to do. So step aside or else you'll be arrested before you are tagged guilty".
The cop grabbed Anne's hand as he helped her walk out immediately the family cop finished her statement.
"You'll have to come with us to the station," the family cop told Amanda.
"She's a staff member in this house and is paid for her service". Amanda defended.
"Is that information true, ma'am?". The police asked Anne as she darted her gaze towards her.
"Yes, but she has my family. She's holding them captive". Anne blurted out.
"Please search the house". The cop instructed.
"Search all you want. You can also request for a bottle of water too". She let out a sinister laughter.
"Please help me". Anee begged on her knees. "She has my family, they were here".
"Sir! We didn't find anyone". One of the cops announced.
Amanda let out a loud laughter as she made herself comfortable by sitting on pigment and playing with the flowers around it.
"Please entertain me". She chuckled.
"Miss, where was the last place and time you saw them?". The female cop asked Anne.
"Attt…at the dog's compound and around 7pm". Anne stuttered as she responded.
"Dog's compound? Did you find any dog compound or house?". She asked her colleagues.
"We didn't".
"I can take you there". Anne volunteered.
"Please show them the way while I keep her on watch". The cop responded.
Amanda heard her heart beat as she hoped that they wouldn't get found. It was an opportunity to finally get what she has always wanted and leave James for good. She let out a heavy sigh when she saw the cops helping Anne's mother and friend out.
"We found them". Anne announced with excitement.
"That's good news. And you, I hope you continue laughing when you get to the station". The female cop told Amanda. "Someone should handcuff her and put a call across to James Hathaway". She told her colleagues.
"Thank you very much". Anee smiled.
"Stay safe till your boss is back". The cop smiled back as they made their way to their van.
"Mother! Eun won! Anne smiled at them as she hugged them.
****Las Vegas*****
"We are leaving first thing tomorrow, send a message across, they should get the jet ready". James told Michael.
"What? All of a sudden?".
"Yes, I have an emergency to attend to". James responded, showing no concerns.
"James, that's improper to do. I mean we just got here". Micheal told him.
"Micheal, I can't stay another day here. You should replace me instead, yes you should". Micheal suggested.
"Oh, that would be better, at least, rather than canceling everything".
"I'm trusting this with you. Keep me updated".
"Sure, definitely". Micheal gave his full agreement.
***The next morning***
Micheal parked all his luggage as he was set to leave. He made sure his private jet was ready before checking out of the hotel.
He couldn't get his mind off her since she called. There was something about her that kept drawing him to her, despite the vow he made to himself never to love any other woman after his experience with Amanda.
From the first day he met her at the mall, he felt something within him.
"Why I'm I doing this?". He asked himself.
He wondered if it was because he knew how evil Amanda could be or if it was because he didn't want any harm to come to Anne.
He had a smooth flight and arrived at New York as predicted. His driver parked at the airport and waited for his arrival.
"Simon". He called as he walked towards the car.
"Welcome sir". Simon responded as he took the luggage from James' grip.
James sat comfortably at the passenger's seat as he took out his cell phone and dialed Mrs Rachel's number but there wasn't a response.
"Why isn't she answering, I really need to know what's going on". James soliloquized as he dialed the number again.
"Sorry sir, can I say something?".
"Yes please, go ahead".
"Is it about the incident last night? About the house staff?".
"Yes, do you have any idea?". James asked in curiosity.
"Yes, her mother was admitted at St Louis hospital".
"Turn the car around".
