Chereads / Shadow Slave (Guiltythree) | Aposle of Oath / Chapter 37 - Lord of the dead

Chapter 37 - Lord of the dead

"Let's go".

Isaac gave the order.

The cohort expanded simultaneously all running in different pre-coordinated directions.

Isaac smiled darkly.

Leaping forward with his enhanced strength he brought the blunt side of his axe.

Swinging with all his might, an explosion rang out.

The bones that structured the Lord of the Dead shook violently.

Some had even begun to show visible cracks.

The mountain of bones began to stir.

The Lord of the dead was awake.

In the far distance, a silver-haired woman held a metal torch in her hand.

The flames on the torch burned with a bright orange hue bathing the dome with shades of reddish orange.

The flames seem to grow larger and larger, every second burning brightly, pure with desire.

On the other side, a muscular woman with a large mace began to violently swing at the rising tide of skeletons.

With every swing, the mace in her hand seems to glow brighter and brighter.

The runic markings become more visible with every swing.

Then allowed screech ran out.

The cohort felt their minds dull for a few seconds.

It was as if their entire bodies were being shaken violently, their brain colliding with the inside of their skulls repeatedly, slowly bruising.--

The bones stirred with an unnatural haste, twisting and contorting until the cohort was faced with the repulsive visage of the Lord of the Dead.

This abomination was a grotesque amalgamation of misshapen, decaying body parts harvested from a myriad of creatures, fused together to create a monstrous entity of unfathomable horror.

At its center loomed a colossal humanoid torso, the singular anchor of this nightmarish form, commanding the chaos around it. Yet, eerily, other limbs and appendages exhibited a disturbing semblance of autonomy, writhing as if possessed by their own malevolent will, breathing life into the entire ghastly conglomeration.

Isaac winced in disgust.

"You're ugly".

Isaac couldn't help but spit.

It was truly a repulsive creature.

It didn't take long for the amalgamation to look down at the person that I'd been attacking for so long.

The other skulls that made up its body also began to look around.

They slowly began to locate every member of the cohort.

Yet there was one that they couldn't locate in time.

A flesh of light streaks through the domed hall.

It was as if a thunderbolt had descended from the heavens.

An explosion later the thunderbolt had torn through one of the many skeletal creatures that were simulated with the Lord of the Dead.

The thunder arrow that Isaac had strategically given To Kai worked wonderfully.

Although all the Memories he had at his disposal were only that of the Awakened Rank that didn't mean they couldn't do large amounts of damage to a small, more focused spot of an abomination of a higher Rank.

And that's what they did.

But now there was a separate issue.

The arrow that was shot would need to be brought back physically.

Which was why they needed to distract it from Kai while he retrieved the arrow and flew back into the air.

Isaac quickly moved.

Using the blunt side of his axe he delivered a few more blows to the Lord of the Dead's body.

Slowly slowly, but surely the cracks began to accumulate, and some bones began to break apart.

Sadly, the gap didn't last for long as the rest of the bones populating the catacombs slowly began to flow and integrate within the abomination's body.

Yeah, that also didn't last long.

The Lord of the Dead began to raise its body.

It slowly began to look around before its attention was quickly drawn to a certain young man with gray eyes.

Clicking his tongue, Isaac slowly began to run quickly, accelerating speed.

The Lord of the Dead raised one of its many arms swiping at him.

Pushing essence through his body to augment his speed, began to accelerate.

Allowing him to dodge the attack from the Lord of the Dead.

That wasn't all.

The bones populating the hall began to form miniature, abominations, undead creatures, ready to submit to their Tyrant will.

Yet before all of them could completely materialize a violent assault descended upon them.

A beautiful knight with slightly cracked black armor descended.

Her ruby eyes blazing with a battle-like desire.

Next to her, a young man who held two swords appeared from the shadows.

On one hand, he had a beautiful sword, similar to that of a katana, yeah, strangely oversized made of polished black onyx.

In truth, it was just Soul Serpent in the form of a ōdachi.

The other weapon in his hand was a one-handed sword that had and possibly sharp side.

It was one of the Memories that Isaac had given to Sunny.

This Memory when activated would make its impossibly sharp tip, even sharper.

Yeah, for some inexplicable reason, he had begun to slowly become sharper and sharper without the enchantment being activated.

With every blow Sunny dealt to the enemy, the blade only seems to become sharper and more deadly.

It easily slid through the bone monsters.

The Lord of the Death slowly began to recognize the number of its current enemies.

Raising its hands, it slowly began to move them towards the different cohort members wishing to crush them and consume them.

Yet before its hands could even reach the cohort it felt deep pain within its legs.

Its legs were made from bones of different creatures lining the bottom of its body like centipede legs.

Yet it had slowly begun to accommodate different wounds on the bits of flesh that held its legs together.

Slowly, but surely its legs were becoming unusable.

And after time it would become completely stationary, unable to move in its entirety.

The skull heads near the legs began to look around.

They noticed a blur flashing around their legs.

The blur stopped, and what appeared was a young man with brown hair and slightly dark skin.

He had bright green eyes, and his face seemed as if a symbol of masculinity.

It was Caster.

Caster's only mission was to slowly stop the Lord of the Dead from proceeding any further.

Making it as stationary as possible, and removing it anyway, from allowing it to dodge.

As the Lord of the Dead began to move its attention towards Caster a loud noise resounded.

Kai who had recovered the thunder arrow shot it once more.

The lord of the dead sensing the eminent threat raised its hands.

It would be ready this time and block the arrow shot by the annoying wasp.

Yet surprisingly the arrow pierced right through the abomination's hand shooting right into its abdomen.

The thunder arrow seemed a lot thicker than before the strands of lightning relieved, slowly burning the remaining flesh on the abomination.

The Lord of the Dead was beginning to move much slower than it was before.

Though it was a creature made out of mostly bones and needed a certain amount of flesh to move.

And that flesh was slowly being burned or cut making it unable to execute complex movement.

Then all of a sudden...

"Nephis now".

Nephis who waited patiently on the edge, began to run down becoming closer and closer to the Lord of the Dead.

The pure bright orange flames igniting brightly into a huge pier began to attract the Lord of the Dead attention.

"Sunny, Effie now".

At the second order sunny, and Effie began to go to their positions.

If he was near the bottom of the Lord of the Dead, her mace rose, ready to deal a devastating explosion.

The mace radiated a terrifying light signifying that the inertia carried within it how to reach its limit.

Running up the Lord of the dead body Sunny began to slowly encroach upon the back of its neck.

The blade carried in his hand, radiating a terrifying sharpness.

"Activate the transfer".

With that order, the flames that once occupied the torch in Nephi's hand suddenly disappeared.

Then two bright lights appeared around the lord of the dead.

One layer of the bright mace in Effie's hand.

The other enhances Sunny's sharp sword.

"Caster throw it at Sunny".

With that order, a spear was thrown with all its might towards Sunny.

The air seemed to part flawlessly allowing the spear to fly through the air without resistance.

Sunny jumped in the air grabbing onto the spear.

He allowed its inertia to carry him forward allowing his attack to be as devastating as possible.

Effie on the other hand swung her mace.

Wind infused with heat flowed through the underground.

Her blow was terrifying a large part of the Lord of the Dead body had been shattered, and flames began to slowly unravel its insides.

As that was being done, Sunny descended from the sky, his blade aimed directly out of the Lord of the Death throat.

As the process unfolded, Sunny descended from the heavens, his blade gleaming with lethal intent, aimed directly at the throat of the Lord of the Dead.

With one fierce swing, his blade sliced through the Lord of the Dead's throat, flames engulfing the remnants of flesh, allowing the blade to glide effortlessly.

In an instant, the head of the Lord of the Dead tumbled onto the ground, lifeless and still.

The Lord of the Dead was no more.

The Lord of the Dead was dead.
