As the battle seemingly came to a conclusion, Ton began laughing as snapped a dark forbidden scroll.
"What have you done!" Demanded Polaris as he looked to his laughing enemy. Behind him, an elder lich appeared. Black smoke pour from its mouth as its eyes lit up green. "Mass Teleportation my lord?"
"YES! MAKE THIS WRETCHED WORLD FEEL MY WRATH!"
Polaris charged the Lich, as did King Fog and those still standing. However, Ton brought Polaris down as the Lich fired off the spell. The wave of cursed mist ripped everyone away instantly. It covered every inch of the world in a matter of seconds. Polaris and Ton fell from the sky, wrestling each other before slamming into the sand of an unknown desert.
"WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE!?
"I FORCED YOU TO START OVER! NO MORE WILDERPLAINS, NO MORE WILDERNESS, AND NO MORE YOU!"
Ton launched himself with frightening speeds. However, Polaris appeared behind him, matching Ton's speed. With his hands tightly clasped together, Polaris lit up the darked desert as he slammed Ton in sand, resulting in patches of desert becoming glass. Ton stood up to see Polaris hovering over the crater.
"What's the matter? Has the Great North Star finally lost everything? Giving up? Maybe I pay a visit to every single person you ever knew...."
Polaris, in a flash, grabbed Ton by the throat. His grip was tighter than ever before, his heat rapidly turning more sand into glass. "You have signed your own death warrant. NEVER.... fuck with my friends."
The air began to spiral around him. The black sands of this unknown desert became a vast tornado, towering over the lands. Polaris glowed with an intense vibration and massive display of light.
"W-what are you doing?"
"Making sure I kill you with something I know you can't ever comeback from."
As the light intensified, Ton shielded his eyes for the last time. A vast explosion of heat and light ripped across the sand, a wave of death, obliterating everything in its path. As the explosion finally stopped and settled, Polaris emerged from the massive crater, eyes red, stumbling as the power he'd released stripped his body of any kind of natural defense. As he began to wander, it became apparent this was no normal desert. Shadow figures began rushing towards him.
"S...Stay back!"
Polaris tried to fire off a bolt of light, but none came forth. However, a single shadow stepped to face him.
"So.... This is the mighty North Star, Symbol of Heroes across the world. The Symbol of Wilderness's Perseverance and Might..."
"Who.... Who are you?"
The shadows manifested revealing the eighty-six dead Heroes of Wilderness, weapons drawn on their old powerless leader. Standing before Polaris, was the the former leader of Wilderness, Glacier Falls.
".... Glacier... but how..."
"We have come to right a wrong I made years ago.... LET YOU LIVE!"
The manifestations rushed Polaris who steeled himself, and used the damaged VOLTZ gauntlets to rip through the shadows. He dodged, bobbed and weaved around attacks, trying to keep any further injuries to a minimum. Glacier ripped a slash through Polaris' shoulder.
"Glacier... I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT YOU!"
"Then lay down and die. You FAILED US."
Realizing it was do or die, Polaris summoned the last of his strength to his body, and fired it off all at once. The explosion sent him soaring over the desert, Glacier appeared beside him, and whispered in his ear.
"You couldn't even save Belvidere. You KILLED US ALL."
Polaris finally slammed into the ground, his eyes glowing red as he faced the Glacier Manifestation.
"I DID EVERYTHING TO SAVE YOU! TO SAVE HIM! I FUCKING LOVED HIM! WHY MUST I BE THE ONLY ONE WHO IS LEFT OUT OF THIS HAPPILY EVER BULLSHIT!"
"It's Because.... YOU'RE ALIVE.... YOU'RE A CURSE, ABUSIVE BEING."
The rage welling up inside Polaris was far greater than he'd expected, and it began to fill Polaris' energy with a power unmatched by all.
"Stop....Talking..."
"What's the matter? Is the FAILURE GOING TO CRY?"
Polaris' body doubles him over in pain, the rage finally overcoming his walls and racing into his veins like a bolt of lightning. The Glacier shadow places his hand on Polaris, which resulted in Polaris grabbing his arm so hard the VOLTZ gauntlets exploded into sharpnel. As he stood up, the shadow shimmered in fear as the Celestial stood up, facing him.
"Fine then.... I'll be your god-damn villain." Polaris ripped the shadows arm clean off. The shadow scrambled to run from Polaris, but found himself unable to escape the pain that Polaris had been suppressing from deep inside himself. Polaris, had finally found a reason to crash out.... Betrayal. The Shadow and the entities that found him found themselves unable to escape his rage.
"WHAT'S WRONG GLACIER? CAN'T HANDLE A FAILURE LIKE ME!" Yelled Polaris ripped the Shadow in two.
Once the fighting had finally stopped, the mist was gone. All that remained were a mound of corpses that Polaris had left in his wake. As he marched into the desert, blood ran down his arms and chest. He was finally running on empty as he stumbled on his way. As he reached a dune, he collapsed rolling down the dune. The pain shocked him awake, and he kept pushing forwards. As he neared a village, the locals rushed to greet him. However, they were lead him to a nasty surprise that he didn't expect. Tied up in the cities center.... was none other than Belvidere.
"P....Polaris...."
The Celestial didn't speak as he marched over to his former lover.
"Wait... please.... SAY SOMETHING!"
Polaris grabbed him by the hair, lifting him up to his eyes. All Belvidere could see was rage, trying to hold back suffering. Polaris cut Belvidere loose then turned to the villagers. The first villager to rush him was met by a fist sized hole slammed through their chest. As others tried, Polaris ripped them all to pieces. Bel was horrified as his ex lover tore into these people, who had planned far worse a fate for him had Polaris not shown up. Once the screams finally went silent, Belvidere rushed after Polaris.
"Wait! Pol! Wait up!"
Polaris whipped around to face his ex lover.
"I... I am done Bel...."
"W-What do you mean?"
"You.... You tried to kill me. You betrayed me. I saved you because I used to care. Make no mistake.... Nobody will ever get that close to me. NEVER AGAIN."
Polaris turned and marched up the dune and finally collapsed, his energy so low he could barely see. Bel rushed up to him, trying to wake him up, but finding he was out cold, covered in the blood of his enemies and of himself.
As he bandaged Polaris, a single tear ran down Belvidere's face."I'm so sorry Pol." He cried softly, resting his head against Polaris' chest, staying beside him as the black sands of the Forbidden Desert covered them like a blanket of death, quietly slipping him further into madness.
