Chapter 70 - Fighting the Abyssal (I)

The Abyssal's body began to glow red as fire embers covered his skin, generating scorching heat that ablaze the ground beneath his feet. Vlad's eyes widened as he realized that the demon was about to use that flame skill, making it very easy for him to strike.

'Dodging would not work. Trying to run will be useless as the Abysal is faster. I can neither hide as his perception is too powerful.' All sorts of thoughts raced through Vlad's mind as the threat of death pushed his cognitive abilities to their limit. As he searched for a way to survive, a sharp light appeared in his eyes, and his second space ring glowed, making a metallic sphere appear in his hand.

Vlad threw the metallic sphere toward the Abyssal, but the demon only smiled as he shattered it with his club, ready to jump the next second. However, a massive explosion occurred when the sphere broke into pieces, covering dozens of meters in fire.

"Boom!"

That metallic sphere was one of the many things that Vlad found inside Ion's space ring. It was an artifact that generated a massive blaze, filling a large area with flames that could scorch Mortal-level creatures. It was more of a crowd control tool and not meant for facing powerful enemies, but it could be very useful to hinder the sight of a powerful enemy and allow you to escape.

"Roar!"

A feral roar emerged from the Abyssal as he waved his massive club in every direction, generating waves of dark energy that dispersed the flames around him. Although the sphere's detonation occurred less than a meter from his face, he was perfectly fine, proving just how strong and tenacious his body was.

The Abyssal's eyes were full of rage as he looked around him, trying to figure out in which direction the tiny human had run away. He could not help but frown as he looked north, south, west, and east, yet he detected nothing.

"My detection skill is failing!" The Abyssal demon spoke in a coarse and rough voice, his tone full of doubt and uncertainty. Yet suddenly, a flash of light appeared in his eyes as he remembered there was still one direction he had not focused on.

"Up!" The Abyssal shouted as he turned his gaze upward toward the zenith of the trees. Only to see a figure flashing down with immense momentum, burying a white sword in his right shoulder before he could do anything.

"Ahhhhh!" A scream of utter pain emerged from the Abyssal as the sword not only pierced his shoulder but advanced all the way into the upper part of his right arm. However, even in that agony, the demon clenched his teeth and used his left arm to send a ferocious punch toward the figure on top of him.

Vlad showed a bloodthirsty smile as he saw how his plan worked and managed to pierce his sword into the demon, but then his eyes widened as he saw a massive fist coming his way with overwhelming strength and momentum.

If Vlad were to let go of the sword now and jump back, he would avoid any damage, but his eyes only glowed with a sense of utter brutality. He made his white Force explode with all its power, covering him and his weapon as he twisted it inside the demon's body!

The Abyssal's eyes widened as he felt how every muscle and tendon around the sword was mangled to pieces, and even the bones were severely damaged, but that did not stop his fists from striking the man on top of his shoulder.

Vlad was sent flying away while puking blood and was not able to regain control of his body until he clashed with a massive tree, with so much strength that he was nearly embedded into it. The next second, he fell to the ground, and even more blood emerged due to the horrible damage that blow had caused.

That damage was nowhere more severe than on his left arm, as all the bones in it were shattered. Vlad had twisted his body in the last second, allowing the left arm to take the brunt of the blow, acting as a shield. While it crippled his arm, had that blow landed on his chest, there was no doubt in his mind he would have perished.

"Hahahaha. Small human, you did very well. I did not think someone in this New Plane could harm me in a one-on-one fight, but it seems I was wrong." The Abyssal demon laughed toward Vlad, making it seem as if getting injured was amusing, and the next second, he took the sword out of his shoulder and grabbed the club with his left hand.

"I will be unable to use my right arm for weeks, diminishing my battle power. However, you bit off more than you could chew, and taking my fists was a grave mistake. Now you can barely stand up."

Vlad listened carefully to everything the Abyssal said, but he didn't respond. Although the blow he took was powerful enough to almost cripple him, he knew that if he hadn't twisted the sword inside the demon, the wound would have been minor for such a powerful being with high vitality.

The Abyssal saw how Vlad only glared at him without saying a single word and he just shrugged his shoulders. "It was short but a good fight. My name is Arasbus. You are a scheming person, so I hope your soul reaches Hell, so we can fight once more in the future."

Such eloquent speech would make one forget the Abyssal was a demonic entity known for their chaotic personality, but as he raised his club, there was only a sense of savagery and brutality, making it clear just how crazy his true nature was.

Vlad saw how Arasbus was prepared to deliver the finishing blow, but he just smiled as he felt a stream of golden energy rising from the ground and flowing into his body.
