Chapter 7 - Angels (II)

Just as Vlad searched for the optimal route to the police station, a new earthquake, and an even larger crack appeared on the road in front of the college campus. Before Vlad or anyone else could react, a horde of monsters emerged from the crack, dozens every second, rushing toward the surviving people.

Vlad's eyes widened as he saw the horde marching toward him. Just facing one of the rat monsters was hard, and the bear monsters pushed him to the limit. Now, there were dozens of them, and even more giant and horrific creatures emerged from the hole in the ground.

'How can we survive something like this?'

Facing such a formidable horde of monsters made Vlad feel as if he was facing a natural disaster, filled with impotence. Yet, just as the horde was about to overrun them, killing everyone, beams of light fell from the sky, blasting the monsters to pieces.

Shock appeared in Vlad's and all the other humans' eyes as they gazed into the sky and saw figures with wings and white armor descending from the top of the building, reaching the ground in seconds. Some of them wielded strange-looking guns that fired beams of light capable of ripping the monsters to pieces, while others held massive broadswords and lunged toward the horde with their bodies covered in blue Force, butchering every monster in their path.

"Humans, fear not. Your salvation has arrived."

A voice full of might and elegance echoed, and people saw a blonde young man nearly over one meter and ninety-five centimeters tall, with large wings and a massive sword in his right hand.

The man was so beautiful that most women could not take their eyes off him, and even some men were dumbstruck.

He only smiled as he turned toward another middle-aged angel with a sword.

"General Cassius, go into the building and rescue all the people you can find."

With those words, the middle-aged man flashed into the building along with three other angels, and the handsome young man turned his gaze toward the hole from which the horde was emerging, dashing toward it.

Vlad's eyes widened as he saw the power of these angels overwhelming the horde of monsters about to kill them all while forming a circle around the people and protecting them.

While such a sight should have eased him, Vlad felt there was something off about these angels that he couldn't pinpoint.

The angels continued to kill the monsters that emerged from the crevice, and Vlad did not take his eyes off them. They were certainly powerful and their amount of Force was shockingly high, but he noticed that, unlike with him, no matter how many they killed, no Origin Force was emerging from the monsters and fueling into their bodies.

In a few minutes, the angels had either blasted to pieces or cut down the monsters in the vicinity, and they went back to the building, keeping a tight military formation as they surveyed the surroundings.

Vlad had not been able to move from his current location. Even if he felt something odd about these people, they were strong and his best chance to survive and understand more of what was happening.

There were already over one hundred people gathered around the building now, a minimal number considering that there were usually hundreds just in the streets and garden and even more living inside the building. Clearly, the amount of death was immense, and it would have been much worse had it not been for the interference of the angels.

Once they were all gathered, the young, handsome angel leader flew toward them, levitating a few centimeters above the air. He looked at everyone with a brilliant smile, and his eyes were so clear it seemed as if you were looking into the clear sky.

"I am sure you are all full of shock and dread, not understanding what is happening. I am sorry to say that the end of days has come, Abyss has broken loose, and demonic spawns are now marching into Terra."

Shock and terror arose in the people's hearts as they heard those words, and religious people even began to pray, asking for salvation. In the meantime, all the angels remained silent with solemn expressions, yet Vlad's eyes couldn't help but frown as he felt something odd about their expressions.

'Are they trying not to laugh?'

Vlad couldn't help but frown as he noticed that and immediately looked down as one of the angels turned toward him. While he was sure there was something wrong with these people, they were too strong, and he did not want to end up on their bad side.
