Chapter 40 - Metallic duo

Vlad's eyes widened as he saw that the metallic figure that had clashed with the Hippopotamus Monster's head was none other than a massive two-and-a-half-meter-tall man made of metal.

¿What?'

Before Vlad could even figure out the identity of that colossal individual, he saw how dozens of metal rods began to rise from the broken houses and streets before flashing toward the Hippopotamus Monster. Those rods could have easily pierced an average person's body, but the Monster's skin was simply too rough.

Luckily, the person behind them seemed wise enough to target the Hippopotamus Monster's eyes, hindering its vision. In the next second, a small and very agile figure rose onto the back of the Monster and gathered a massive amount of electric energy in his mouth.

"Lightning Spear!"

A massive electric spear emerged from the small cat's mouth, blasting straight into the back of the Hippopotamus Monster's head, making it scream in agony.

Although Vlad was still confused by the appearance of the colossal figure and the metal pipes constantly clashed with the Hippopotamus Monster, since they were with Jormungandr, they must be allies.

That was all Vlad needed to know to decide his next step. He stored one of his weapons in his space ring, clasping a single sword with both hands, as he would need to concentrate all his strength on the next cut.

"¡AHHHHHHHH!"

Vlad roared, increasing his rage, which allowed his body to move despite the damage and exhaustion. He flashed forward, appearing beneath the Hippopotamus Monster, and, without losing momentum, jumped with all his strength.

Thanks to the jump, Vlad rose into the air several meters, and his focus reached its peak. He gathered his Force into his core, channeled it down to his arm, and then into the sword.

"Single Cut Slash!"

All the Force gathered on his blade, making it extremely sharp as Vlad hacked at the neck of the Hippopotamus Monster with all his strength.

The skin of the Hippopotamus Monster felt like cutting through the hardest and densest metals, and since he was forced to jump, he lost his base, but by pushing himself to the limit and using the Force Skill, Vlad was able to make a large and deep cut in the Monster!

"¡AHHHHHHHH!"

The Hippopotamus Monster screamed once more in agony as mountains of blood fell from its neck. Vlad could not help but frown since even if the wound was deep and left deep bleeding, it did not reach deep enough if the Monster could still scream.

"THOMP!" "THOMP!"

Vlad saw the Hippopotamus Monster begin stamping its hooves into the ground, and his eyes immediately grew sharp. Without hesitation, he moved back and shouted to the small yellow cat that was ready to fire another spell.

"Jormungandr, jump down, now!"

The small yellow cat was ready to fire a new Lightning Spear when he heard Vlad's shout. Without hesitation, he jumped down from the massive Hippopotamus Monster, landing swiftly on the ground and flashed away.

Right after Jormungandr had moved out, sharp and powerful currents of water began to revolve around the Hippopotamus Monster at an enormous speed. The water was coming from the moisture in the air, the nearby houses, and even the sewers, and it revolved with so much power that anyone near it would have been sent flying away or worse.

Vlad's eyes were sharp as he gazed at the torrent of water that formed around the massive Hippopotamus Monster. Then, the next second, he glanced at the small yellow cat that jumped onto his right shoulder.

"How are the civilians?"

"Safe with Lieutenant Mitchel."

There was no time to chit-chat, so the young man and small cat went straight to the topic. Vlad nodded before turning his eyes to the other two figures. One was the massive and colossal man, and the other was a black-haired young woman with spinning metal spikes above her figure.

Vlad was about to speak with them when he noticed something in the revolving water sphere that had formed around the Hippopotamus Monster, so massive that it covered its figure.

He was still far from growing powerful enough to detect the nature of the skills with just his eyes, but by tapping on the sea of knowledge of his Second Past Life, he could see it.

"To the building now!"

Vlad did not wait for the duo to respond as he dashed to the closest building, cutting all the demons in his path. The colossal man and magnetic woman were momentarily confused but did not hesitate as they followed after the young man with the little cat.

The group dispatched all the demons in their paths as they began to rise to the rooftop of the five-story building next to them. They moved extremely fast, but they heard it before they could reach the rooftop.

"WHOOOOSHSLAM!"

Vlad and the others heard a deafening roar that mimicked the sound of a crashing wave. As they looked through the windows, they saw a radial explosion of water that blasted outward in all directions, carrying tremendous force capable of leveling small structures, uprooting trees, and sweeping away anything nearby.

The destructive power of the crashing wave sent all the demons in the streets near the Hippopotamus Monster hurtling away, and the group in the building could not help but tremble at such a sight, imagining what would have happened if they had been there.

However, they were still not far from danger. The waves struck their building, making it tremble and filling the lower levels with water.

"Keep running!"

Vlad shouted as he turned around and grabbed the woman. She would not be fast enough, so he unceremoniously threw her onto his left shoulder and continued climbing to the rooftop, trying to stay one step above the crushing waves of raging waters.

In the end, only Vlad and the colossus man were running. Since they were warriors, their speed and stamina were much higher, and they managed to make it up to the rooftop just in time to see the waters flooding the streets of the small town.
