Chapter 94: Crossroads of Tension

The early morning sun cast short shadows as Bayo and Amina approached Adeola's residence in East Cambridge. The air thrummed with unspoken tension, a palpable undercurrent pulsing between the three of them. Adeola opened the door, her face a carefully composed mask that betrayed nothing of the disappointment flickering in her eyes upon seeing Amina at Bayo's side.

"E kaaro," [Good morning] Adeola greeted, her voice measured. "Welcome, both of you."

Bayo nodded, acutely aware of the charged atmosphere. "O se, Adeola." [Thank you, Adeola] It wasn't the first time Amina and Bayo had visited; in fact, it was the third. The familiarity only seemed to heighten the underlying tension.

Amina smiled, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. "Yes, thank you. I hope we're not imposing."
