Chapter 16 - Unspoken emotions

Nolan looked up and saw her gazing back at him, he took out his hands from his pocket and locked eyes with her.

Her Brunette danced to the rhythm of the gentle breeze, and they swayed at the side of her face. Her eyes, sparkling with vitality, and her pretty lashes fluttering at his presence.

She looked beautiful, wearing her long white dress and a black jacket while still wrapping her arms around herself.

At that moment all he wanted to do was grab her and deep kiss her soft lips like he owned it.

He broke the silence and approached her.

"You were not at the party", Nolan asked as he stood on the balcony, next to her, looking out at the beautiful city view.

Nancy finally looked away, she was just thinking about him and here he was standing next to her, smelling so good and looking so hot as usual.

"Why is he doing this to me? Why does he have to look even better each time I see him", Nancy thought as her eyebrows pulled up together.

She knew she needed to give him a response, but the fear of saying anything stupid made her hesitate for a moment before finally responding.

"I just didn't want to… has it ended?", she asked, trying not to turn her face to him.

Nolan turned his head and saw her eyes fixed on the view, he smiled and looked away.

"I would choose here over that party, to be honest, it feels great to be here… the breeze here feels super fresh", he said smiling.

Nancy held on to the balcony block firmly, she wondered how he noticed she was not at the party, was he looking for her? Why is he even here right now? Is he trying to play with her the way he does with everyone?

Before her thought would drive her crazy, she turned her head to him.

"How did you know I was not at the party?", she nervously asked and immediately looked away before he could turn.

This was the closest he had ever been since he had known her, the flush of rosy pink on her cheeks, her well-shaped nose, down to her inviting lips, and a natural blush that complemented her warm complexion.

Nolan felt silent terror seep inside of him, his heart raced as he immediately looked away.

Nancy was right, how did he notice she was not at the party, without thinking about it he looked at her again, and this time she had also turned to look at him wondering why he was hesitating.

They locked eyes again, and this time they were not staring from a far distance, the tension between them rose as they stared into each other's eyes.

His mesmerizing green eyes sparkle with warmth and charm.

At that moment, the world went silent, the world around them faded into the background, intense gazes filled with hints of desire, unspoken emotions that words cannot express, lost in each other gaze.

"I…"

"I don't know", he finally spoke.

"Why were you looking at me at the bus earlier", he added.

"I don't know..", she calmly answered.

Nancy did not understand what had happened but it was intense and powerful, her heart raced more than normal.

She looked away and exhaled deeply as she stared at the city ahead of them.

Nolan was still staring at her, trying to figure out the emotions he just felt while staring at her, he had stared at girls for a long time and he never felt what he had just felt with Nancy, it was a beautiful feeling and this made him smile gently.

Nancy looked at him and saw his smiling face, she looked surprised and looked away again.

"Why are you laughing?", she said almost chuckling.

He looked away and leaned on the block.

"Nothing.. don't worry", he answered still smiling, not knowing why he kept smiling.

There was a short time silence between them before Nancy glanced around the cities and said.

"This time last year, I never thought I could see myself here… In North Carolina or Chapel Hill or right here at the hotel", she said still gazing at the city from the balcony.

"Or having this moment with you right now", she thought and let out a soft smile.

He looked at her and noticed how comfortable she had instantly become and this also made him feel more comfortable.

"Where were you from?"

She took a quick glance at him and looked away.

"NYC… most crowded city in the United States of America".

Nolan laughed.

"Obviously, it is beautiful and everyone wants something beautiful", he answered and looked at her.

Nancy felt his intense look at her, but she did not turn her face to him.

"He is so smooth with his words… I see why girls fall for him now", she thought and instantly the flapping of the wing next to her made her stumble back, crashing against Nolan who had grabbed her arms to avoid falling.

"I got you…", he said smiling and looking at the bird which had flown away after Nancy's shriek had scared it away.

Nolan's smile turned into laughter as he found what just happened cute and funny.

Nancy still felt his grip on her shoulder and her back against his body, she immediately moved away from his grip and cleared her throat nervously.

They were both silent and the awkwardness kicked in.

He rubbed his sweaty palms against his shorts and put his hand in his pocket while gazing up at the stars.

Nolan has never been nervous around a girl until Nancy.

They both took a quick glance at each other again and immediately looked away.

Nancy knew if she said anything at that moment, it would be total bullshit, she swayed slightly from where they were standing and took a step backward.

"Ummm… so, see… see you around", she stuttered.

Nolan turned and looked at her, he rubbed his neck and nodded, "Yes, of course, Nancy… goodnight", he said and quickly raised his hand, "bye".

"Bye…", Nancy said and quickly turned away, walking fast and not looking back.

Despite his smiles, he could still feel his blood rushing causing his face to blush bright red.

"What the f**k just happened! What is happening to me", he said in a frustrated voice, grabbing his head.
