There she was, standing before his eyes. She was still dressed in the same clothes from the day she left the beach house. Her eyes were noticeably red and her tear-stained cheeks glistened under the light that lit up that very hallway. Her long dark hair was a tangled mess, and this sad look was carved into her ashen face. Much like him, she too, couldn't fall asleep with all the thoughts and mindless questions in her head keeping her wide awake.
Alexandra looked up to meet his gaze, her eyes filled with a myriad of emotions. A look of expectance hung over her face as a moment of silence lapsed between the two of them. She knew she wanted to trust him, to believe his words.
Without saying another word, he reached out to pull her into a tight embrace. His arms wrapped around her waist and the other snaked to the back of her head to bring her closer to him, burying her face in his chest.
