He knew that voice all too well.
He could clearly hear the way it was mocking him, taunting him even. He lifted his head from his hands and looked up to lock eyes with Hannah. She stood before him, with her head held high and a smirk morphed itself onto her lips. A triumph look was plastered across her face as she looked down at him.
Seeing the look on her face made him seethe with rage. After all, she was the one who landed him in this situation, mercilessly looking to crush his dreams of having a daughter at her fingertips.
He narrowed his eyes at her, feeling his heart pumping faster with each second. Pushing her hand off his shoulder, he spoke. "What are you doing here?" He asked, spitting the words out like they were poison in his mouth.
She smiled, the corners of her lips twisted into a grin, the sarcasm seeping through her voice as she spoke. "Just wanted to make sure that my sister is safe."
