Pain shot through Alexandra's body, sending a tingling sensation right down her spine as the loud sound rang in their ears and a surprised yelp escaped from her lips.
"Have you lost your mind?!" Stephanie screamed, her shrill voice slicing through the tension that was thick in the air that settled among them. "I warned you to stay away from my son! How dare you make a scene on live television and lie about the proposal?!" She snarled as her face contorted into an angry expression.
Caleb's face darkened visibly as he stepped in front of Alexandra and pushed his mother away from her, causing her to stumble back a couple of steps before she grabbed onto the wall beside her for support.
"What do you think you are doing?!" He asked through gritted teeth as anger simmered under his skin, coursing through his body at that very moment.
