A single tear rolled down Alexandra's cheek as her gaze met his, emotions running wild in her dark brown eyes. His words pierced through her heart like a sharp dagger, twisting into her chest deeper. She reached up to wipe the tears off her face.
In a fleeting moment, she noticed the flash of hurt crossed his face as he looked at her, yet his expression remained calm and distant, looking at her almost as if she was a stranger.
"You really think so?" She asked, her voice trembling as she tried to hold back her tears and lightly bit onto her lower lip. "You think I don't love you enough? Are you going to trust her words over mine?" She asked, echoing his words.
"I heard enough from the recording," he insisted, barely sparing her another glance. She didn't understand why he was acting so indifferent or why he wouldn't listen to a word he said. But maybe he had a reason.
"So you aren't even going to hear me out?" Alexandra asked.
