MAXWELL'S POV
As I moved deeper into the mountain, Aragat's ancient magic seemed to guide my steps. But the further we went, the more I felt the weight of despair. The mountain was dead—silent and devoid of life. I could not hear even the faintest whisper of nature, and it sent a pang of sadness creeping into my heart. It was a brutal thing, this Devourer, to drain life from a place that had long protected the realm.
Kieran was the first to break the silence, his voice heavy with sorrow. "Look at this place. It is dead. Only the heart core remains, protecting itself."
Daeva nodded, her expression grave. "The evil that runs through these mountains is ancient. It has been sealed away for so many years. But now that it has awakened, it needs power to sustain itself. That is why it's fed on the mountains' essence."
