JASPER'S POV
As I approached the front door of my home, the usual weariness of the day seemed to lift slightly. I'd been carrying the weight of numerous concerns and decisions, but there was something about coming home that always promised a semblance of relief. Tonight, however, I was particularly eager to return, drawn by a subtle, elusive sense of calm that had been lingering in my thoughts after we spent the cold night in the forest that was in between Elisera and the borders.
I heard the sigh of pleasure that came from Tatian as I put the key in, it turned smoothly in the lock, and I pushed the door open, stepping into the familiar warmth of the house. Instantly, I noticed a change in the atmosphere. The air felt lighter, almost imbued with a serene tranquility that contrasted sharply with the hustle of the day.
