Ryan stared at her, his emotions swirling. He nodded silently before pulling her into a tight embrace. Lilian's eyes grew misty as she watched, moved by Maureen's heartfelt words.
Once in their respective cars, Ryan glanced at Maureen before starting the ignition. "Thank you for standing by me," he said quietly.
"Anything for you, love," she replied, her voice trembling with emotion.
The drive to the cemetery took about twenty minutes. As they arrived, Lilian led the way, explaining that their mother's grave was at the far end, while their father's was closer. Ryan decided they would visit their mother first.
Handing Ryan a bouquet identical to hers, Lilian smiled. "I brought this for you. I figured you might forget."
Ryan chuckled softly. "Thanks, Lilian. But I didn't bring one for Maureen—sorry."
Maureen shook her head, looping her arm through Ryan's. "We'll place it together," she said, her voice warm.
