That night, Lilian made a decisive move. As the new owner of 75% of Simmons Company, she wasted no time asserting her authority. Contacting the company's lawyer, she instructed them to send a message summoning Isabel and the rest of the board to a meeting the next morning at 9 a.m.
Lilian shared her plans with Allen, who encouraged her to establish her dominance.
"You own the majority shares now," he told her. "Make it clear that no decisions can be made without your consent. This is your company to control."
While Allen supported her leadership, he didn't want her to resign from her current role at MXcel Company.
"Stay here with me," he urged. "You can appoint someone to oversee Simmons and report back to you. It's a temporary arrangement until we're married."
But Lilian hesitated.
"How can I employ someone else to run Simmons while I work as just another employee at MXcel? It doesn't make sense."
