A visitor arrived at her door. Rising from her seat, she proceeded to answer it. Ryan and Maureen were waiting outside when she opened the door. Pausing for a moment, she hesitated on whether to invite them inside or not. They gazed at each other in silence.
"Won't you invite us in?" Ryan inquired, holding Maureen's hand. Lilian turned away and walked out of the door.
The two lovers got in and shut the door behind them. They took their seat on the sofa, opposite Lilian.
"Lilian, I am sorry. It never occurred to me that the man who fathered your daughter would be your boss."
"It wasn't Maureen's fault. I was the one who suggested treating your daughter to dinner. If I had known we were going to meet Allen, I would never have proposed the dinner," Ryan pleaded with Lilian.
