Chapter 2 - MY INTELLECT SCARES ME; A REASON TO ATTEND SCHOOL EVERYDAY

Syouta: you have good taste bro, however, I don't think that a girl like her would be single

Chiaki: you think she's seeing someone?

Syouta: yes, when has a girl as pretty as her doesn't have a boyfriend. Remember Lara , the first time I met her I thought that she was single, but it turns out that she was actually dating a guy two years older.

Chiaki: I see

Syouta: nowadays all the good girls are all taken and we are left with scraps to pick from like that girl over there . not trying to crush your dreams man, just trying to look out for you so that you don't hurt yourself in the process

Chiaki: I didn't say that I wanted to be in a relationship with her , I was just curious jeez

(Bell rings)

Jun: see you guys later, I have a class to get to

Syouta: I guess I should be heading out as well. Don't want to be late for class , see you later bro

Chiaki: yes

(Chiaki watches Kayo leaving the classroom)

(Chiaki): Kayo Takayama huh

Takenaka-sensei: good morning everyone

Everyone: good morning sensei

Takenaka-sensei: Minoru please help me set up the projector

Minoru: yes , sensei

Takenaka-sensei: oh, Chiaki is that you

(Chiaki proceeds to hide his face with a book)

Takenaka-sensei: I haven't seen you for two months now , how have you been ?

Chiaki: I have been well, Takenaka-sensei

Takenaka-sensei: I see , that's good . But you know that you're far behind in your study's right?

Chiaki : Yeah I know , I'll catch up eventually

Takenaka-sensei: I'll take your word for it, we'll talk after class

Chiaki: yes

Takenaka-sensei: alright , let's begin the lesson

Takenaka-sensei: now using all the examples I gave you yesterday, who wants to come up here and solve this equation

(Takenaka-sensei writes on the chalk board )

Equation 1: 3x+4y= 25, equation 2: 2x + 3y= 18

Takenaka-sensei: anyone would like to give it a try

(Kohana): please don't choose me to do it

(Denji): I don't know what the hell is that on the board and how do I even find x and y

(Chiaki raises his hands)

Chiaki: I'll give it a try

Takenaka-sensei: okay go ahead

Chiaki: so X equals three and Y equals four

Takenaka-sensei: that's correct, well done Chiaki

(Kohana): what he actually got it right, wasn't he absent for two months? How does he know how to do it?

Takenaka-sensei: alright I'm going to give a few more as class activity

Denji: Sensei, is the work graded

Takenaka-sensei: yes it is

Everyone: oh come on

(Everyone writing)

(Denji scratches his head)

Takenaka-sensei: times up hand your book to the person in front of you

Takenaka-sensei: you will know your grades tomorrow

(School bell rings)

Takenaka-sensei: you guys can leave now, Chiaki come with me to my desk

Chiaki: yes

(Takenaka-sensei places the books on here desks)

Takenaka-sensei: so, what happened with you, why weren't you coming to school?

Chiaki: to be honest, I don't really know, after basketball season ended I just lost all motivation to attend school at all

Takenaka-sensei: but it's your final year though and it determines the university that you'll is going to or the jobs that you'll be offered.

Chiaki: I know, which is why I'm back now

Takenaka-sensei: For the rest of the semester right?

Chiaki: yes sensei

Takenaka-sensei :okay good, also great job on the work you got a perfect score despite not being here for a while

Chiaki: thank you, my intellect scares me sometimes

Takenaka-sensei: you sure kept up with the syllabus despite being absent, you're even more consistent than everyone in class.

Chiaki: I tried my best not be left behind

Takenaka-sensei:I see, take care now, Chiaki go attend your other classes.

(School bell rings)

Chiaki: give me three melon bread and a lime juice please

Cafeteria lady: Here you go

Chiaki: thanks

(Chiaki walks to his homeroom class to eat lunch)

(Chiaki): I haven't had melon bread for a very long time, I can't wait to dig in

(As Chiaki enters the classroom he saw Kayo sitting alone playing a video game)

(Chiaki walks over to his seat)

(Chiaki): she's so beautiful, I can't stop staring at her

(Chiaki): should I go over and say hi?

(Chiaki): wait , when have I been so timid when it comes to girls, come on Chiaki just man up and talk to her

(Chiaki gets up out his seat)

(Chiaki walks over to Kayo)

( Chiaki grabs a chair and sits right next to her)

(Kayo looks at him but then got back to her game)

Chiaki: hey

Kayo: um, hi

Chiaki: what game are you playing?

Kayo: oh this, it's just a color organizing game, you organize the colors from lighter shades to darker ones

Chiaki: I see, can I get a try?

Kayo: sure

(Kayo hands Chiaki her tablet)

(Chiaki looks at the game)

Chiaki: wow, this really is complicated, I don't even know where to start

Kayo: oh I'm sorry, that's how far I'm at right now, here let me put it on novice level one for you

Chiaki: okay

Kayo: here

Chiaki: thanks, this seems much easier

Chiaki: so this goes here right

Kayo: yes

Chiaki: and this goes here

Chiaki: and this dark shade of red goes at the top

Kayo: see you're getting the hang of it

Chiaki: yeah kind of

Chiaki: I can't make out these three, they look the same

Kayo: what do you mean? These shades are completely different. This one goes here, this goes in between the two and this goes here. See the perfect blend of shades

Chiaki: I see, I guess it's true then, men are more color blind than women

(Kayo laughs intensely)

Kayo: I suppose that's true

(Chiaki): that was so frickin cute(slight blush)

Kayo: here, try level two

Chiaki: okay

Chiaki: here you want one? They are freshly baked

Kayo: oh melon bread , my favorite are you sure I can take it?

Chiaki: yeah go ahead

Kayo: okay, thank you, I've been starving over here

Chiaki: so why didn't you go ahead and buy lunch?

Kayo: I honestly don't know, I probably got lost in the game

Chiaki: yeah maybe

Chiaki: man I think I'm going to go blind, all of these look exactly the same

Kayo: oh come on, these ones are so easy

Chiaki: easy for you at least

(Kayo chuckles)

Chiaki: we should do this another time, it was fun

Kayo: yes it was

Chiaki: so then can we exchange numbers?

Kayo: sure why not

Kayo: see you later , I'll have to go to my next class

Chiaki: yeah, see you

(Chiaki walks home)

(Chiaki): I'm on cloud nine, I got to talk with Kayo for half an hour straight, she's so cute , I can't wait to go to school tomorrow so that I can see her again

Chiaki: I'm home

Chidori: uncle Chiaki, welcome back

(Chidori runs to Chiaki and hug him)

Chiaki: how was school today?

Chidori: it was good, I had a lot of fun today

Chiaki: I see that's great

Chizuru: welcome home bro, I'm almost done with dinner, just give me a moment

Chiaki: sure thing

Chizuru: alright everyone dig in

Everyone: thanks for the meal

(Everyone starts eating)

Chizuru: so how was school today?

Chiaki: today was the best day of my life if I'm being honest

Chizuru: I see , that's great, why is that though

Chiaki: well you see I met this g-

(Chiaki): wait I can't tell her that

Chiaki: I scored the highest on a class activity or teacher gave

Chizuru: I see , well done big bro, you're truly a genius

Chiaki: jeez, come on Chizuru , we are practically the same age there's no need to call me big brother

Chizuru: so do you plan on going to school tomorrow?

Chiaki: of course and everyday after that as well

Chizuru: I see I'm glad that you're taking school seriously now

Chizuru: you can go ahead and get some rest , I'll clean the dishes

Chiaki: alright thanks

(Chizuru): I'm so happy for him (smiles)

(Chiaki lays in his bed)

(Chiaki looks at his phone contacts)

( Kayo💓)
