"What do you think I should do?" I asked the bookworm in a calm voice.
The way that I asked this, it was as if I wasn't trapped at all.
This made the bookworm knit its brows for a few seconds, but then it relaxed as it said, "Is there a reason to bluff like this? Do you really think that you can fool me at a time like this? It's clear that you don't have a single card up your sleeve and are just trying to bluff your way out of this. It won't work."
"Is that so?" I asked in a calm voice.
The bookworm once again knitted its brows, but this time it seemed like it was a bit annoyed to hear this.
It seemed like it was done listening to me as it said, "Alright, let's see how you get out of this then."
It didn't lose its temper like I thought it would, which showed that it was at least a bit smart that it could tell that I was baiting it.
After all, I had no idea just how many cards the bookworm had hidden up its sleeves.
