Chapter 303 - 302-Silver Cage

The room buzzed with energy, the silvery aura surrounding Renjiro pulsing rhythmically like the heartbeat of a living entity. It was as if the chakra around him had its own consciousness, responding to his emotions and intentions.

Renjiro's breaths came in slow, measured waves as he took in the scene before him. The silver aura, which had initially been amorphous, began to condense, swirling inward with purpose.

With every passing second, the chakra refined itself, taking on a structured form. The first signs of the manifestation were the translucent ribs, forming an intricate cage around Renjiro. The ribs gleamed under the dim lighting of the room, their glow casting long shadows across the walls.

Renjiro's lips parted, and he whispered, almost involuntarily, "The Susanoo…"

His voice was barely audible, but the weight of the realization struck him like a tidal wave. This was no ordinary achievement. This was the manifestation of one of the most powerful abilities in the Uchiha arsenal. He reached out tentatively, his hand brushing against the shimmering ribs. They felt solid yet unreal, as though crafted from pure chakra moulded into physical form. The silver hue struck a chord deep within him. It was familiar, almost nostalgic, reminding him of his Adamantine Chains—his second chakra seinous.

"Did my chains somehow inspire this?" Renjiro muttered under his breath, his thoughts swirling with curiosity.

He shifted his stance slightly, and to his amazement, the ribs shifted with him. It was as if they were an extension of his own body, moving seamlessly in tandem with his movements.

He stepped back, his eyes shining with excitement. This was more than just a weapon or a defence; it was a symbol of progress. His heart raced not because he now had an immense improvement in combat capability, but because this was a tangible step closer to his ultimate goals.

"Is there even anyone else with a Susanoo right now?" Renjiro asked himself aloud, his voice tinged with curiosity. He pondered for a moment before concluding, "Currently, it's only Madara, so this places me in elite company among the Uchiha." The thought filled him with both pride and a hint of trepidation.

He chuckled, his voice light and filled with an almost boyish excitement. "Man, I used to pray for days like this."

But Renjiro wasn't one to bask in the glory of his achievements for too long. His analytical mind quickly took over, and he decided to test the limits of his new power.

Forming a single hand sign, he created a shadow clone, which materialized beside him with a faint puff of smoke. The clone immediately moved into action, retrieving a handful of shuriken from Renjiro's stash of weapons.

"Let's see how this holds up," the clone said, its voice identical to Renjiro's but with a hint of detachment.

Renjiro nodded, positioning himself within the protective ribs of his Susanoo. The clone hurled the shuriken with precision, the blades slicing through the air with a sharp whizz.

"Tink"

The moment the first shuriken struck the ribs, it shattered into pieces, the fragments clinking as they hit the ground. One after another, the shuriken met the same fate, unable to penetrate the silvery barrier.

Renjiro raised an eyebrow, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "At least it increases my defence," he remarked, his tone tinged with amusement.

As he looked at the shattered pieces of the shuriken on the floor, Renjiro couldn't help but think of how often he had to rely on his body's natural healing abilities after every fight.

While he healed quickly, the process was still taxing on his chakra reserves.

"Avoiding injuries in the first place would definitely save me some trouble," he thought aloud.

"But I can't depend on this in battle—not yet," Renjiro admitted, shaking his head. "not until I understand it fully."

His thoughts turned inward, to the implications of revealing this power. The Mangekyō Sharingan and Susanoo were rare and immensely powerful abilities.

If word got out, it could paint a target on his back, more than he currently was. The likes of Danzo and the anti-Uchiha factions in Konoha would undoubtedly see him as a threat, possibly acting to neutralize him before he could gain more influence.

Worse, even within the Uchiha clan, this power could upset the delicate power dynamics. Strength and power were highly valued among the Uchiha, and Renjiro's sudden leap in ability could draw unwanted attention.

"No," Renjiro concluded firmly, his voice resolute. "It's not worth revealing it now." Keeping this ability hidden would be his trump card, a hidden ace to catch his enemies off guard. "Most foes won't expect it. That alone gives me an edge."

He took a deep breath, ready to continue testing the Susanoo. "I've confirmed its physical defence. I should probably test its chakra—" His sentence was abruptly cut off as a sharp, searing pain shot through his eyes.

"Ahhh!" Renjiro gasped, clutching his face.

The silver cage around him flickered violently before dissipating entirely. His knees buckled, and he fell to the ground, panting heavily. His eyes felt like they were on fire, the pain so intense it was as if someone was driving needles through his pupils. He pressed his palms against his temples, gritting his teeth.

"Dammit," he hissed, his voice strained. "It's… really chakra-intensive."

Staggering to his feet, Renjiro stumbled toward a nearby box. With shaky hands, he opened it, revealing a neatly arranged set of soldier pills.

These pills, a gift from the clan when he became a Jōnin and rarely used, were tools to replenish chakra reserves in dire situations. Without hesitation, he grabbed one and swallowed it dry.

The effects were almost instantaneous. A surge of energy coursed through him, his chakra reserves replenishing rapidly. The exhaustion-induced pain ebbed away, but the burning sensation in his eyes persisted. Renjiro collapsed onto the floor, his chest heaving as he stared up at the ceiling.

"No one… talked about the pain from using the Mangekyō," he muttered. "It hasn't even been an hour, and I already feel like gouging my eyes out."

After several minutes of rest, Renjiro pushed himself up, his resolve stronger than ever.

He made his way to the basement, a space he had made and converted into a personal training ground. The walls bore the marks of countless experiments, scorch marks from Fire style Jutsus, and deep gouges from weapon testing, a testament to his dedication.

Renjiro activated his Mangekyō again, ignoring the stinging pain that accompanied it. He focused his chakra, summoning the Susanoo once more.

His chakra flared, a tidal wave of energy that made the air around him hum with power. The silver ribs reappeared, their radiant glow filling the room. The pain in his eyes surged again, but Renjiro gritted his teeth and pressed on.

To test the limits of his new ability, Renjiro created two shadow clones. The first clone formed a Rasengan in its hand, the swirling sphere of chakra glowing brightly. The second clone inhaled deeply, preparing a Fireball Jutsu.

Renjiro watched intently, his eyes fixed on the clones as they executed their jutsus. The Rasengan crackled with power, and the clone holding it stepped forward. The other clone exhaled, releasing a fireball that roared as it shot toward the Susanoo.

But as the fireball collided with the ribs, something unexpected happened. Instead of the familiar red-orange flames, the fireball transformed into a vibrant green blaze.

Renjiro's eyes widened in shock. "What the—?" he whispered, his voice barely audible.

The green flames danced wildly, their hue casting an eerie glow across the room. This wasn't just a simple Fireball Jutsu; it was something entirely new, a transformation he hadn't anticipated.
