Chapter 12 - Ascension to the Surface [2]

The ground was shaking, and a group of monsters surrounded us. The group prepared while I was put in the middle. Terius threw a dagger to me.

"Defend yourself, at least."

I smiled and got out of the formation and took my battle stance while holding a dagger.

"What are you doing? Trying to get killed?" Nathan looked at me, but I ignored his words. I'm still a weapon master; even without magic, I can take on any monsters.

The only bad side was my size. My body shrunk and became a younger version of me, so my physical strength wasn't that great. Still, I needed to help these guys.

"They're charging forward, theresia buff!", Terius shouted as he charged forward and tank the hits whilst Nathan jump towards the group of monster alone.

The heads of the monsters came falling off as Nathan swiftly dealt with them.

"He's a pretty decent swordsman," to be honest, he's better than most swordsmen I've met in the past.

"Look out, you idiot!" A goblin riding a wolf beast was charging at me with a spear, and I did a backflip and dodged it. Then I threw my dagger at its neck.

I chased the wolf and stabbed it mercilessly as the archer girl looked horrified by what she saw.

"Zia, we need support, don't just stand there!" Oh, so your name is Zia, huh? Good to know.

After a few minutes, there wasn't anything going on except slashing and shooting. Theresia, who was kneeling and healing at the same time, was starting to sweat. Terius as well began to weaken.

Zia wasn't breaking a sweat since she just shot arrows from the top, and Nathan was severely wounded. Though I do hate the guy, I should save him at least.

"Fireball!"

The ball made of flames came from the back. I looked and saw it was the mage of the group. He was casting a few spells from the back; he had multiple magic circles behind him, so he's one of those talented ones.

I ran across the places where the group was surrounded and killed any monster that was within range. While I was at it, I grabbed the injured Nathan and took him to Theresia for some healing.

I looked at him and gave him a little smirked and saw his disgusted face. "Don't expect me to thank you!"

"I'm not expecting any thank you from you either", I quickly went back to my position and helped Terius.

And after a few minutes of continuous fighting, we finally ended the fight. The group was exhausted, and Nathan was fully healed.

Good thing because here comes the main boss. I breathed and looked up and saw a massive ogre, though smaller than the one we fought, it was still an ogre.

"Get ready for round two, baby!" I ran towards it and pushed my dagger deep into its toes. Its weapon-like axe came swinging down at me, but Terius came and blocked it with his shield.

"Thanks!" I looked at him while continuing to push my dagger deeper, "it's only my job."

Then Zia came flying from the back. She shot three arrows towards the neck, and the ogre screamed in pain. Nathan came running towards the ogre, he made a massive leap and stabbed the ogre's stomach.

He pulled it downwards and opened its belly wide open. Now, this is teamwork! Nathan pulled out his sword and shouted, "now!" Then an array of fireballs came and hit the ogre's wounds.

It didn't even have time to react to any of our moves until it swung it's axe at Nathan who stood still, "ah f*ck" but it was at that moment that Terius managed to shield him.

The two of them flew away from the impact and hit the walls. Theresia came running towards both of them as I guarded her.

Sh*t, now it's only the three of us. We have to make do without a tank. I guess I should take the front.

Without any hesitation, I charged forward and leaped towards its stomach. "I'll make you bleed as much as possible!"

Then a rain of arrows and sharp ice came down and hit its head. With one final slash, I opened its stomach for the second time until the ogre fell.

"Timber!!!", the ogre fell, and the ground shook. This time it's really dead, no more rising up and hurting anyone.

"Well, that was tiring, isn't it?" I looked back at Nathan and Terius, and they were still unconscious.

"You sure are a fighter, aren't ya?" the mage patted my back, "My name's Evan Bennett, pleasure to make your acquaintance, Alex!"

"Ah, same here."

Evan looked at Zia and told her to come to us, "You've probably heard her name by now, but this is Zia Ainsley. Come on, say hi."

"Hi," it looked like she didn't even care at all, or maybe she's one of those who are nonchalant on the outside but simps girls on the inside.

"We've met and talked before, but this is our first introduction. It's a pleasure to meet you," I shook her hand, and she only nodded.

After our introduction, I headed towards Nathan and Terius. "Will they be okay?" "Yes, they just need a bit more rest to wake up," Theresia continued to heal them.

Well, we are near the exit. Should I just ditch them? Nah, I'll break their trust, and if we meet again, they might kill me. Though I'm confident that they can't, better safe than sorry.

I'll just wait a couple more minutes. I laid down on the floor and looked at the dark ceiling and closed my eyes.

Hm, now that I think about it, I'm not so sleepy like before. Is it because I've experienced being a human? That reminds me as well, I missed reading manhuas and manhwa. Too bad they didn't have them here.

"They're awake!" Theresia's scream was heard by all of us as we ran and checked on them.

"I'm sorry for leaving you three to fight the ogre," the moment Terius woke up, he immediately apologized. He was a just man.

But on the other hand, we have Nathan. He was clicking his tongue the moment he woke up. What an ungrateful human.

"Can you guys walk?"

"Yeah we can were near the exit might aswell endure it", Terius stood up with the help of theresia and Nathan walked on his own Evan did offer to help but he refused.

Something is strange were going the opposite way the exit should be the other way around but why are they going forward then I figured out why.

There was light it was exit it was like a doorway with pillars with blood red paint of it I see there was new exit and entrance.

It took a while for my eyes to adjust to the light but eventually I stepped into the hot sand and glimmering sun.
