Chapter 11 - THE ENVELOPE.

CHAPTER 11: THE ENVELOPE.

"Two thousand dollars just to get clothes? I mean, this is too much," Kane in amazement, after opening the envelope given to him by his boss Ava. And after counting the money and realized it was two thousand dollars, as he uses the elevator. He couldn't believe that Ava could do such a thing for him.

"Am definitely not buying clothes with all of these money, not when my family's financial state is this way."

"Hello, my name is Kane. I was sent by miss Ava moure," Kane quickly reached into his pocket and brought out his phone, and put a call across to the man his boss Ava asked him to.

"Alright. I will send you my address immediately, am sure you can find your way?" The man responded over the phone.

"Yes! I should be able to find my way," Kane responded, as he walked out of the elevator.

"Good," the man said, and ended the call immediately.

Sooner after, Kane got an haptic signal, he quickly reached into his pocket and brought out his phone. He saw that the man who he was to meet had sent his address. He walked out of the establishment, and got a cab, the cab driver drove off, heading to the location address Kane had shown him.

"I think one thousand dollar should get me some good number of outfits," Kane said, opening the envelope and brought out one thousand dollar.

"But, how am I sure all these money are meet for outfits? I think I should get there before concluding on what this is all about," Kane said, as he returned the one thousand dollar into the envelope.

He quickly put the envelope in his so called suit that wasn't befitting enough as a personal assistant to the president of Sky gate hotel. He took a deep breath as he looked through the glass door, hoping that everything was going to be in his favour at last.

"How close are we?" Kane asked the cab driver out of curiosity. He had never stepped out during work hours, even though he was permitted, still he had to be conscious of time. Knowing who his boss was, and how she reacts to things. He was scared she might get offended if he spent longer time.

"Almost there sir," the cab driver responded, rolling the steering to the left hand side and looking at the side mirror, as he needed to take a reverse.

Kane looked at his wristwatch and nodded his head in acknowledgement.

"Holy shit!" Kane exclaimed, hitting his left hand on his head.

"Are you alright sir?" the cab driver asked, as he noticed Kane's reaction through the rear view mirror.

"Yeah, am good. What is the cost of the ride?" Kane asked, as he wasn't with much cash on him than the two thousand dollars. The only cash he had was his transportation back home after closing from work.

"Oh! Just thirty five dollars sir," the cab driver responded, looking at him through the rear view mirror.

"Ok- okay," Kane responded, wondering his eyes as he doesn't know what to do.

"We are here sir," The cab man said, as they arrived the location.

"Alright," Kane said, and reached out into his pocket, as he opened the car door and came out. He brought out his wallet, checking if he had up to thirty five dollars. He was a little bit disappointed when he discovered that the money was just twenty dollars.

'What do I do right now?' Kane thought, while the cab driver waited for him. He was left with no other choice then to pay his transportation fare from the two thousand dollars.

He coldly brought out the envelope, and brought out one hundred dollar note and paid the cab driver.

"Thank you," the cab driver said, and turned on the car ignition, thinking Kane was going to let him go with the remaining change.

"You haven't given me my change," Kane sadly said.

"Oh! Here you go," the cab driver said, stretching his right and handed over sixty five dollars to Kane, and drove off.

"Hello sir. I think am at the location," Kane said, as he had placed a call across to the man he was going to see.

"Good. Walk into the building," the man responded over the phone.

"What! Building? I can't see any building of such sir," Kane responded, wondering what the man was talking about.

"What do you mean?" the man asked, wondering if Kane had gone to a wrong place.

"I can only see closed stores around here," Kane said, looking round the environment.

"Young man find your, I sent you an address, so make use of it," the responded, and ended the call.

"What! What does he want me to do? This address was exactly what I told the cab driver-" Kane wondering helplessly.

"What the funk!" Kane exclaimed, after realizing that he had given the cab driver a different address.

Out of curiosity, Kane had mistakenly given the cab driver one of those address his friend Johnny had sent to him while he was still doing some unholy businesses with him just to earn money for the family, although he wasn't happy doing it.

"How will I be so careless? What do I tell my boss that I did with some of the money she gave me? If I had to take another cab?"

"Hey you, come here," two young guys standing by the corner of one of the stores, dressed in black hoodies looking all scaring called him. They have been observing him for a while.

"Huh? What for?" Kane asked, wondering what they wanted from him.

"Give me that funky phone," one of the guys said, as he walked towards Kane.

"Please I beg you, don't take my phone it's means a lot," Kane begged, making eye contact with the guy.

"Hey man, get through with him already!" the other guy yelled, as he walked towards Kane as well.

"What do you think you're doing? Give me everything you're holding," the guy said to Kane, as Kane had made a move to run.

"Please I beg you. Let me go," Kane begged pitifully.

"Shut the funk up!" one of the guys said, searching Kane's body to see if they could find something else, after collecting his phone.

"Hell no," Kane said with an angry voice, as the guy brought out the envelope from his suit pocket.

"You can't take that from me," Kane said, and held the guy holding the envelope. At that moment, Kane wasn't scared anymore, as that was a huge amount of money he would suffer to pay for god's know how long. Knowing that his boss wasn't going to forgive him if he lost the money.

The guy gave Kane an abdominal pouch with his right hand, and pushed him away as they both left with the money.

"Ha!" Kane fell on the floor, painfully grabbing his abdominal area, as he watched them left with his boss's money.

He struggled up so he could go after them, but the pain was beyond control. He looked beside him, and discovered that his phone was on the ground.

He quickly grabbed his phone and placed a call to his boss Ava. He knew she wasn't going to take it likely with him, but at the same time, he had to let her know the situation on ground .
