Chapter 108 - Chapter 98 - Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D

POV: Baldur

Malta Archipelago.

2013.

Looking at the mansion in front of me, I wait patiently. Several months have passed since the Battle of New York, and things are finally calming down. Of course, not all the chaos was due to that battle. Magneto's speech about the new world open only to mutants also contributed significantly.

His speech was broadcast to the entire world with my help, and what happened next was not much of a surprise. Opinions were divided between letting the mutants go or expelling them from Earth. Anti-mutant groups like the Purifiers were, of course, on the latter side.

As I had previously agreed with Magneto, mutants who did not want to go to the other world could not be forced. And he was keeping his promise. Unfortunately, I underestimated human cruelty, and because of this, several mutants who did not want to leave their homes were practically dragged away by anti-mutant groups. Many of them ended up dying because of this.

I considered their deaths to be my fault, so I acted. I issued an attack order to the Wardogs. Any organization, whether political or independent, that takes physical actions to force a mutant out of their home will be attacked. Of course, this order could not be given without the approval of Wakanda, as we jointly control the Wardogs. The King of Wakanda is not as paranoid about the secret of his existence as in the comics, since they have Genosha to support them, so he agreed with this order.

On the same day, more than four thousand members of various anti-mutant groups were found dead. This event was quite significant for the entire world. Several of these groups were financed or supported by someone with political influence. So the authorities did their utmost to investigate, but the Wardogs left no evidence behind.

With the number of deaths growing every day, frightened people began to think that this was carried out by some mutant group. Fearing that this would lead to more deaths for them, I went public in my second broadcast to the entire world since World War II. I told everyone about my order and why. The message was clear: mutants are now under my protection.

Several nations of the world moved their navy towards Genosha, surrounding it as a warning for me to stop my actions. I didn't care about them. Their attempt to scare me was meaningless and baseless. Of course, I didn't stop being on alert.

A month later, everything began to calm down. The number of mutants migrating to the other mutant world, now called Hope, began to increase more and more, and attacks on mutants became fewer and fewer. I consider everything a success.

So my search for Gravitonium is finally coming to an end. Due to my limited information, I had to be very patient to get my hands on it. A few days ago, Alice informed me that the hacktivist known as Skye was taken from her beautiful van to form a team with Coulson. She certainly has many computing skills, but she can't hide from Alice.

After that, I watched the events unfold as in the first episodes of the series. Until yesterday, they were summoned to investigate the kidnapping of an asset. This asset is Dr. Franklin Hall, the leading living researcher on Gravitonium. It didn't take long for the team to find out who was behind the kidnapping.

Ian Quinn, leader of Quinn Worldwide, one of the largest companies focused on mining in the world. Unfortunately, the team couldn't simply save the doctor since Ian was now at his annual shareholders' meeting in the Malta Archipelago, a place where S.H.I.E.L.D has no power, leaving them no choice but to try a secret rescue mission in which Skye would pose as a party guest, giving access to Coulson and Ward to enter the well-protected house.

This was all the information they knew and their plan. What they didn't know was that the kidnapping was a setup by Dr. Franklin Hall himself, aiming to prevent Gravitonium from falling into the wrong hands. An action that will put a good part of the Malta islands in danger. If the story follows as in the series, this would be avoided, but the doctor would end up falling and being devoured by the Gravitonium, something that must be avoided.

Gravitonium not only has the power to alter gravity but also has another peculiar effect. When a living being is devoured by it, their physical body is destroyed, but their consciousness still remains alive in the Gravitonium. If this happens, I couldn't use the material to finish my weapon. For this reason, I have to get it before that happens. Normally, I would get the Gravitonium without anyone finding out, but I really want to meet Coulson's new team.

My patience was finally rewarded when I see a beautiful woman wearing a long pink dress with a beautiful neckline heading towards the entrance of the mansion. Daisy Johnson, who now goes by the name of Skye, is a beautiful woman with Asian features who seems nervous about her first mission. I highly doubt that anyone would imagine that she is an Inhuman with powers strong enough to destroy the Earth if used correctly. Unfortunately, she never reached her full potential in the series, but she is certainly not an easy target.

Skye entered the party using the invitation that she herself obtained using her computing skills. If I'm not mistaken, she will now look for a safe place to hack into the system.

"Time to talk to an old friend."

POV: Baldur

Malta Archipelago

I become invisible and enter the party through the front door, wearing a handsome black suit. No one can see me, but I think the occasion calls for it. I see Skye chatting with some guests and if I focus my hearing, I hear a woman's voice giving her tips through her communicator. After successfully lying and convincing some guests that she wasn't an intruder, she goes to speak with the host of the party, Ian Quinn.

The conversation went well, and finally, during the beautiful speech about the uses of the element control that Ian was making, Skye takes advantage of everyone's attention focused on him to enter the house. I follow her until she stops at the office door.

"It's locked!"

She says and receives instructions from her team.

"Can you hack it?"

Then she goes to a small table near the office looking for something.

"What do I do now?" She asks her team.

"What are you trying to do?"

But to her surprise, Ian simply appears in front of her.

"Looking for a pen, I need to jot down these good ideas"

Skye says, trying to disguise, certainly not convincing Ian.

I could stay here and observe, but I judge that it's time to appear. I become visible behind Ian, he doesn't notice me, but Skye falls silent, looking at me with wide eyes. Ian realizes that someone is behind him and turns around only to be greeted by my palm hitting him in the face, making him hit his head on the wall and knocking him unconscious.

Ian Quinn has ties with Hydra, he was also responsible for another program to create super soldiers called Project Centipede. I really wanted to kill him now, but I decide to leave him to Coulson's team.

"I apologize, I didn't mean to scare you."

I say to Skye who is still scared looking at me, probably not recognizing me without my long hair or my golden armor. I extend my hand and she shrinks back in fear. I gently take the earpiece from her ear and put it in mine.

{What happened, Skye?}

"It's been a while, Agent Coulson." I say after recognizing the voice on the communicator.

{Your Majesty!? What are you doing here?}

"I was enjoying the party until I saw one of your agents in danger, let's talk better later, I'm also curious about your resurrection."

{Agreed. Can you help us?}

He says, already controlling his surprise.

"One moment".

"Alice, disable the house's defenses."

"Done." She responds.

"Thank you"

Now Coulson can safely enter the house. I then gently return the communicator to Skye's ear, who is now looking at me with her mouth open, already recognizing me.

"I didn't mean to scare you, Agent Skye, since I interfered with your mission, allow me to help."

She stays silent for a few seconds with her mouth open until her friends shout at her through the communicator, waking her up.

"Of course!" She finally responds.

The two of us quickly walk through the corridors towards the exit. According to the plan, Skye should be saved by Ward while Coulson would go after the doctor, so I'm protecting her until they meet. When we leave the house, I see several security guards in suits running towards us, armed.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

They fire several times at us without any warning. A screen of light appears in front of me, protecting us from all the bullets. These shots would have no effect on me, but they could ricochet and hit Skye who is behind me.

After emptying their pistols and realizing that the shots had no effect, they did not give up and advanced against me, all at once. To prevent Skye from getting hurt, I also advanced. The first security guard tried to hit me with a punch that I held with the palm of my hand, I twist his arm breaking it and then I threw him to the side so as not to get in the way.

The two who came after were smarter and drew knives. The first one stabbed me in my heart with a professional blow. I held the blade of the knife with two fingers, then I put a little force on my fingers and the blade breaks in half. With the broken blade in my fingers, I spin it and cut his neck, who is still surprised by everything that happened. The second man with a knife finally comes in front of me only to be hit by the broken blade that I threw, hitting him right in the forehead.

The rest of them finally understood that I was not an enemy they could defeat and turned and ran in the opposite direction.

"Wow!"

I look back and see that Skye is not scared by the bodies on the ground but is looking at me as if she were a love-struck teenager.

"RUMBLE!"

Before I can say anything, the ground beneath us starts to shake and I know I don't have much time. I pointed at Skye and her body was covered by a layer of golden light.

"I have to go down, you can wait for your friend here, this light will protect you from any physical damage."

Without waiting for an answer, I go as fast as I can to the laboratory below the house and when I enter it, I see Agent Phil Coulson on the floor, and the whole room is a mess. The strangest thing in the room was that it was upside down, disobeying the laws of physics.

"Baldur, be careful!" Coulson shouted when he saw me.

"Bang!"

I hold the bullet fired at me by Dr. Franklin Hall. It must be said that he was very smart shooting as soon as he saw me. Unfortunately for him, a bullet would make no difference if it hit my body.

"Here. This is yours."

I fire the bullet from my hand using my thumb, hitting the doctor's shoulder who falls to the "ground".

"You thought the bullet would hurt me? Seriously?" I say ironically to Coulson.

"It was a reflex." He responds, smiling.

"RUMBLE!"

Another tremor happens and the whole room seems to spin like a magic cube, throwing Coulson and the Doctor from one side of the room to the other. I on the other hand, do not move, gravity is also generated by stars, and it has no effect on me.

"We have to turn this thing off!" Coulson shouted at me.

Finally, I look to the other side of the laboratory where I see several rings spinning at high speeds and firing energy rays at a silver element in the center of everything.

"Alice, how do I turn this thing off without making everything explode?"

"There's no way to remotely turn off the machine, sir, but it will shut down on its own if the rings stop sending energy to the element."

Understanding what she meant, I fire a thin beam of energy from my finger that precisely hits the rings that are spinning around the element, destroying them. In the same second, the entire room returns to normal, and I have finally achieved my goal.
