Chapter 75 - Chapter 69 - Thor Part 4

POV: Baldur

Puente Antiguo, New Mexico

One day after Thor's liberation

2011

The night was somewhat entertaining, the four of us went to a local bar in town and drank until Doctor Selvig couldn't take any more and passed out on the bar table. I was surprised at how much he could drink, being a human, perhaps it's his Danish blood.

After that, Thor took Selvig back to his place. We didn't talk about anything before, we just drank and had fun. In the end, Amora and I found a place to stay for the night. Tomorrow, things are going to get livelier.

"Sir, another signal from the Bifrost opening appeared, at the same location where Thor fell."

"Let's go, Amora, old friends have arrived in town."

The two of us quickly moved out of the city towards the desert. It wasn't far from where Thor fell that we found four warriors walking slowly towards us.

"Well, well, what do we have here?" I greeted them with a smile.

"Baldur!?" Fandral was the first to recognize me, but it was Volstagg who reached me first, giving me a big hug.

"It's good to see that you're alright, my friend," he said happily, shaking me up and down.

"Let him go, Volstagg, you might accidentally break his spine," said Fandral.

Volstagg let go of me, but still smiled as he looked at me. Then I had time to look at my old acquaintances. Hogun seemed as calm as I remembered, and Fandral was still the same. It had been a long time since I last saw them. They weren't as close to me as they were to Thor, but they were close enough.

"In truth, allow me to introduce Lady Sif," Fandral turned, pointing to the only woman in the group.

He remembered that there was one more person in this beautiful reunion and introduced Sif to me. She wasn't present during my childhood, so she must have joined them later. I must say she was much more beautiful than in the movies, with long black hair and a warrior's body. I really didn't see any resemblance to her brother Heimdall in her.

"Pleasure to meet you."

"Pleasure to meet you too, Lady Sif. My name is Baldur, and this is my wife, Amora."

Amora wasn't very close to the warriors, so she stood by my side without saying anything, merely nodding after being introduced.

"The reason for your coming here isn't hard to imagine," the conversation continued.

"Indeed, do you know where we can find Thor?"

"Just head straight ahead, Fandral, he's right in the center of town. It's not hard to find him."

"Is it true that you can help him remove the enchantment that the Allfather placed on Mjolnir?" Lady Sif asked me.

I never thought about it, but it would be possible to destroy the enchantment on Mjolnir. Odin is in a weakened state now, so it's the best chance to break the enchantment. I'm not as skilled as he is in removing the runes using knowledge, so I would just need to resort to a magical brute force attack to break the runes.

"I could."

Everyone seems more relaxed.

"But I won't."

Out of nowhere, Sif draws her sword and attacks me. I dodge her strike and grab her wrist, then spin her around, causing her to fall backward onto the ground. To prevent any further foolish attacks, I place my foot on her chest, restraining her movement.

"Release me, you traitor... you're just like Loki, only after the throne of Asgard!"

She struggles on the ground, trying to free herself, but my strength far surpasses hers. The other warriors know I won't harm their friend, they watch me, awaiting an explanation.

"You've misunderstood me, Lady Sif. I have no interest in being the king of Asgard. The reason I won't remove the enchantment is because Thor deserves this punishment."

"Bladur, I agree that Thor deserves his punishment, but we're on the brink of war. We need him now," Hogun speaks up for the first time.

(Hogun has always been the most sensible.)

"No matter the situation, a punishment is a punishment. Only Thor himself can regain his powers. But rest assured, there won't be any war. Loki may be unstable now, but he's not as foolish as Thor. He'll do what he always does – deceive and manipulate instead of engaging in direct combat."

I remove my foot from Lady Sif, who rises from the ground, glaring at me furiously. I pay her no mind.

"If you still wish to try to help him, go ahead."

I disappear from their sight along with Amora, leaving them alone in the desert. It's been a long time since I've seen them, so I wanted to reunite with them. The upcoming events will be somewhat frenetic, not allowing for a calm meeting like this.

POV: Third Person.

Puente Antiguo, New Mexico.

Arrival of the Warriors in the City.

2011.

"Base, we've got a Xena, a Jackie Chan, and a Robin Hood here."

(T/N: I have not watched the thor movie in a long while, was this actually said?)

The two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents assigned to monitor Thor report the presence of four oddly dressed individuals walking through the city. The Asgardian warriors, drawing the attention of the entire town with their armor and weapons.

"That's a nice theory, Jane, but you won't convince the scientific community without evidence."

Doctor Selvig and Darcy Lewis have just finished breakfast and are listening to Jane's theory about Thor's origin.

"KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK"

The three then glance out the window and see four people in armor, carrying ancient weapons.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"We found you!" Volstagg exclaimed happily.

Thor joined his friends, really happy, hugging them, unfortunately the happy reunion didn't last long. A little away from the town, a large explosion made everyone leave the house, then they looked to the horizon where a huge black armor, four meters high, was coming towards the city.

"Jane, you have to go," Thor said.

Thor instantly knows who his enemy is and tells Jane what to do.

"What are you going to do?" She asks, concerned.

"I'll stay here," Thor replies with a smile, trying to reassure her.

"Thor will fight with us," Volstagg roars in joy, imagining himself fighting alongside his friend once again.

"My friends, I am just a man now. I don't want to interfere or cause you harm, but I can take these people to safety," Thor says.

The townspeople still haven't realized the danger they're in, they were just curiously looking out of the city.

"We need time," Thor says.

"You will have it," Fandral says, drawing his weapon.

While the four warriors stay behind to buy time, the others split up and start getting the townspeople out of the city. Luckily, they were cooperative, and most of them followed their orders.

"BOOOOMMMMM!"

An explosion is heard from afar as the Destroyer shoots a blast of power at a gas station, causing it to explode. That was enough to make the other reluctant townspeople understand the situation they were in.

"BOOOOMMMMM!"

The Destroyer now explodes a local restaurant, which fortunately was empty.

"Keep it distracted," Lady Sif asks her friends as she leaves the scene, leaving only the three to fight.

Fandral and Hogun prepare, and when Volstagg runs towards them, the two throw Volstagg towards the Destroyer.

"FOR ASGARD!"

Volstagg shouts, preparing to strike with his axe.

"BOOOOMMM"

The Destroyer hits him before he can even strike with his axe. The force of the blow is so powerful that it causes his body to sink into the car he fell on. The Destroyer approaches him and faces Volstagg, preparing to blast a beam of energy from its face, ready to kill the Asgardian.

At that moment, Lady Sif jumps from the roof of a house and thrusts the blade of her long sword through the Destroyer's neck, pinning it to the ground. She smiles from atop the monster, confident that she has destroyed it, but the Destroyer's light comes back on, it twists its body to face Sif, and it attacks her, knocking her off it and then simply removing the blade from its neck, freeing itself.

Knowing they have no chance in a direct fight, the four retreat, but the Destroyer sends a blast of energy, slicing through the ground and hitting the four, sending them flying through the nearby houses, the second blast of energy explodes the buildings where they were, injuring them.

Thor returns to help his friends, he tells them he has a plan to stop the Destroyer. It's all a lie, of course, but they believe in their friend. After the four warriors retreat, Thor slowly walks up to the Destroyer.

The Destroyer kicks a car wreckage out of the way and faces Thor.

"Brother, whatever wrong I may have done to you, whatever I did to make you do this, I truly apologize. But these people are innocent. Taking their lives won't make a difference to you. So take mine, and end this!"

Loki, who is controlling the Destroyer, listens to his brother's words and seems to accept them. The robot turns as if it's leaving. For a moment, everyone thinks the battle is over, until it turns back and hits Thor in the face, sending him flying several meters into the air before crashing to the ground on the street.

"No!"

"NO!"

Jane Foster sees this and rushes to Thor's fallen body on the ground, tears welling in her eyes. Thor merely smiles at her.

"It's over," he says.

"No, it's not over," Jane cries, looking at him.

"I mean, you're safe," Thor replies, smiling.

"I am."

"It's over."

Thor is dead, and Jane can only weep as she looks at his body. The Destroyer turns halfway and begins to walk out of the city.

Moment of Thor's Death

2011

Watching your brother die in front of you isn't a good feeling. Amora and I were watching the entire battle from the roof of one of the buildings that remained intact during the Destroyer's attack. I wasn't happy about risking my brother's life to see if he could regain his powers. There are many different things in this universe, and risking so much may be a mistake.

Only Thor's final words reassured me somewhat, they were somewhat similar to what he says in the movies, so I find some comfort in them.

"BOOM!"

From outside the city in the desert, I hear an explosion. When I look to the horizon, I see an object heading towards the city like a missile. Mjolnir easily breaks the sound barrier, only seconds away from the city.

Looking down, I see Doctor Selvig dragging Jane away from Thor just in time to get her out of harm's way. When Mjolnir is almost about to collide with Thor's body, Thor's hand grabs it, and a massive lightning bolt strikes Thor's body, restarting his heart. The Destroyer senses all of this and turns its body, preparing to finish what it started.

The lightning continues to bathe Thor's body, reconstructing his armor and red cape. The Destroyer was about to fire a blast of energy when it was hit by Mjolnir, causing it to lose its attack. Mjolnir returns to Thor and strikes the back of the robot's head, causing it to fall to the ground.

When Thor retrieves his hammer, the lightning ceases, and his fully armored body is revealed, ready for battle.

"Ready, Amora?" I ask her from beside me.

"I need a few seconds to complete the spell. You just need to keep Thor from destroying the robot while I do that. Keep him still for a second, too."

"I'll go ahead."

I jump off the roof and land directly in front of Thor before he creates the tornado to lift the Destroyer into the sky.

"Brother?"

The Destroyer takes advantage of Thor's shock and attacks with another energy blast, which I defend against with the handle of Sigel. When the red energy beam hits Sigel, it splits into several beams that hit the nearby buildings, causing them to explode.

"HAHAHAHA, let's fight together, brother!"

Thor seems quite happy to fight alongside me. He leaps towards the armor, which catches him in mid-air. Thor throws his hammer, hitting the armor's chest. When Mjolnir strikes the Destroyer's chest, it releases several bolts of lightning, sending Thor flying. He reaches out, and Mjolnir returns to him.

Now it's my turn to attack, so I throw Sigel, breaking the sound barrier as it heads towards the Destroyer's chest. The robot bats it away with its hand, changing its direction, but it gives Thor enough time to get close and strike the Destroyer's leg with Mjolnir, causing it to fall to the ground. Thor lifts his hammer and hits it squarely in the chest while it's on the ground. When the hammer strikes it, a bolt of lightning falls from the sky, destroying everything around the Destroyer.

The Destroyer doesn't feel pain, so it doesn't bother with Thor's blows. It fires another energy blast, which Thor defends against with Mjolnir, backing away.

"I'm ready."

When I hear Amora's voice telepathically, I know I have to keep him still for a few seconds. I leap with Sigel in hand, aiming for the Destroyer's stomach, which still hasn't gotten up from the ground. When my spear is a few inches from its body, it grabs Sigel's handle with both hands, protecting itself. This force's handle is not favorable for me.

But I see Thor coming towards me, he jumps and hits my spear with Mjolnir, giving me enough force for my spear to pierce the Destroyer's body, pinning it to the ground.

"NOW, AMORA!"

Amora appears beside me and strikes her staff on the ground, enveloping the Destroyer in a pentagram with several green runes. Shortly after, the red light shining from the Destroyer goes out, leaving it dormant on the ground. The Destroyer is now under our control.
