POV: Baldur
Royal Castle, Genosha, 1944.
After Ordering the Attack on Germany.
I'm truly furious about the shameless trap the Nazis created, pretending a peace meeting to kill my student. I was so angry that Amora had to come personally to calm me down, or else I would be flying to Berlin right now.
Their luck that Freyja didn't die. After calming down, Amora personally healed the wounds of my general, and she fully recovered shortly after. I reported the incident to Nordur, in case she couldn't return to fight and I needed him on the battlefield.
The investigation mission is important, but not as much as ending this war. If Freyja wasn't in a condition to fight, I would cancel the mission and destroy that Nazi missile without caring about its origins. Luckily, she was completely healed, but also hungry for revenge, so I ordered the attack.
After that, I waited for Nordur's update on the secret base in Belgium, until...
"Sir, General Nordur requested urgent reinforcements for the central, omega-level threat," Alice tells me.
Her words surprise me. I knew the secret underground shelter should be well protected, but an omega-level threat never crossed my mind. Omega-level threat was a code for an immensely powerful hostile, powerful enough, like an omega-level mutant.
"Open connection with the soldiers in the field, I want to see what they're up against."
"Yes, sir."
The soldiers assigned to the mission are Genosha's elite, all of them have cameras on their helmets that record and can transmit their missions.
A hologram in the form of a screen appears in front of me, revealing the image. I see a large cloud of dust and debris everywhere, I see bodies of men wearing white coats, and my own men torn apart on the ground.
"Are you alright, sir?" the man in the image asks, looking at the ground.
On the ground, I see Nordur in a terrible state with severe wounds that are healing at high speed, his arms and legs that were torn off are joining together in a bizarre way.
"Yes, I'm already healing," he speaks weakly.
"Did he die?" another man asks.
"No one survives the explosion of two plasma bombs," the other confirms.
Then there was a loud noise, and I see a man floating in the air, his figure transforming into a well-known being.
"Bow before me and beg for mercy, for you are in the presence of... Apocalypse!"
His voice echoes through the transmission.
(Apocalypse!? How the hell is he free? Or in this reality, was he never imprisoned?)
My shock is immense. I was preparing for his arrival with the events from the X-Men movies, but I never imagined he was already free, let alone that his story would be different from the reality of the movies.
(I don't have time to think about that now!)
I get up and run towards the stables, I need to save Nordur as quickly as possible, Apocalypse is not an opponent he can defeat, not even I am confident in winning against him in hand-to-hand combat.
"Alice, call Amora as soon as possible, tell her to initiate the containment plan."
"Yes, sir."
I mount Sleipnir and only with my spear, I speed off to Belgium. It only took a few seconds until Sleipnir stopped atop a mountain. According to intelligence reports, inside the mountain lies the Nazi installation.
"Show me the images, Alice."
From my wrist, a hologram appears showing the soldiers' point of view. The first perspective showed nothing, so the view jumped from camera to camera until I saw Apocalypse holding Nordur, who is screaming in pain, Apocalypse's other hand is almost ripping his shoulder off.
Seeing that he doesn't have much time until Nordur dies, I throw myself towards the mountain. As my speed increases, I activate Sigel and use my power to prepare for the impact. If someone could see me now, I would be like a golden comet falling towards the earth.
"BOOM!"
The first explosion was gigantic, when I come to my senses, I am seconds away from crashing into Apocalypse and Nordur.
Apocalypse, who has centuries of combat experience, reacts quickly and lets go of Nordur and then retreats. As I am about to hit the ground, I use my propulsion boots to cancel the impact force. I land delicately on the ground.
"My king!" Nordur looks up at me from the ground, relieved at my arrival.
I look around and see the various bodies of my men on the ground, all of them had terrible deaths.
"My lord, they all died honorably." Nordur seems to realize what I'm thinking and tells me.
"Well, then we'll meet again in Valhalla."
(Why weren't they teleported?)
The security system of the weapons and armor of these men was not activated in any way, the only easy way to do this is by destroying the magic rune in the armor, but the blows they received don't seem to have done that. So it means that it was somehow done by Apocalypse.
"So the king finally appeared. Tell me, child, are you here to kneel before me?"
"So you know who I am?" I ask, turning my attention back to the giant floating in front of me.
"It's hard not to know who you are nowadays, you and your nation put an end to centuries of planning in this damn country."
For a moment, I thought he knew I was Odin's son. If Apocalypse had such information, it means that other kingdoms were involved in all of this.
"I'm sorry for that, but we were just fighting back. If you blame anyone, blame the idiot leading this country."
"Why would I blame a monkey for making mistakes, it's in their nature, Humans."
(Why am I not surprised that he's saying this)
"But you are different, I feel the power within you, it's different from mine, but still much more evolved than those monkeys, together we can destroy this world and recreate it the right way. Come on, kneel before me and swear allegiance, and I will give you control over my legions."
Satisfied with his proposal, he extends his hand to me, awaiting my response.
"Truly a tempting proposal." I see a smile on his face, until I continue.
"But I am Baldur Odinson, and a son of Odin does not kneel to anyone."
His smile freezes in shock, I don't wait for a counter-proposal and shoot a heat beam hitting him in the chest by surprise, but he doesn't even flinch.
"Get out of here, Nordur! Amora is coming."
"Yes, sir," Nordur turns quickly and runs as fast as he can with his injuries towards the exit.
"HAHAHA, you will kneel, even if I have to cut off both your legs!"
Apocalypse fires two energy blasts with both hands, I do the same, shooting with my spear, the power of his energy blast starts pushing my attack back towards me, exploding a few inches from my face. The force of the explosion sends me flying through a wall, stopping in an office-like room.
When I get up, I see several bricks and debris coming quickly towards me, I spin my spear, throwing a wave of golden flames that incinerate all the debris thrown at me. The wave of flames doesn't stop and heads towards Apocalypse who seems a little surprised.
When the flames seem to collide with him, an invisible energy shield appears around his body protecting him and causing the flames to split, spreading throughout the room, incinerating everything they touch. In this exchange of blows, I realize he hasn't moved an inch, as if he were trying to protect something.
When I look closely, I see that he's right behind the Nazi missile, which means there's still a chance of it being launched.
"Not that I care, but what's in the missile?"
I go to him and try to get some information out of him.
"A piece of me!" Apocalypse responds smiling.
With this vague answer, he thinks I can't guess what's in the missile. But it was enough for me to guess. Now I know what's in the missile, and I have to shoot it down no matter what. In the worst-case scenario, what's in the missile is the Techno-Organic Virus, an almost incurable virus that can be controlled by him due to the Celestial ship he has controlled, I also know that his armor was made of celestial material, making it almost indestructible.
(If the missile releases the Techno-Organic Virus, it could cover the entire planet, Apocalypse will be in control of all living beings, with a thought he could kill everyone.)
Without thinking twice, I release another beam of energy from Sigel aiming at him, he once again counterattacks, but unfortunately for him when the two beams were about to collide, a golden oval-shaped object appears in the air, deflecting my attack to the left, where another oval object reflects it once again, now projecting it towards the missile which is hit head-on.
"BOOMMM!"
The explosion is not small, and the mountain trembles threatening to fall on us, luckily I mastered this trick, with the manipulation of light creating golden mirrors, the missile explosion doesn't hurt us, but Apocalypse's beam that was fired before hits me squarely in the chest.
If it weren't for my armor and Asgardian physique, I would have a big hole in my chest. Even with my defenses, there's a black circle covering almost my entire chest.
"HOW DARE YOU!!!"
Apocalypse screams in rage when he realizes my true target, he launches himself towards me like a bullet and lands a punch on my face so fast that I can't defend myself. I'm once again thrown, this time through several walls until I stop, the force of the blow was gigantic even for me.
When I get up, recovering from the blow, I'm hit once again, forcing me to kneel on the ground. I feel a hand holding my neck and lifting me up in the air, facing him.
"I did say you were going to kneel" He says smiling.
Without waiting for my response, he lets me go, and with another blow precisely hitting my chin, I hit the ceiling and fall, only to be greeted by another energy blast hitting my body.
"I must say, I'm disappointed." he says
I must admit, I'm taking the biggest beating since my fight against the Frost Giants, time to change that. I attack by spinning my spear, hitting his foot and making him fall backward. Taking advantage of his shock and not giving him time to recover, I jump and try to thrust my spear into the middle of his eyes.
Apocalypse manages to hold the blade a few inches from his face and gives me a smug smile.
"Why are you smiling? Let's see if you can smile after this."
From the tip of the blade, I shoot an energy blast, hitting him in the face.
"AAAAAAAAAAAH!" Finally, the "God" screams in pain.
A burst of Psionic energy throws me away from him. I take advantage of the time when he screams in pain and activate all my magical rune powers, reaching my peak strength and attacking him.
"I'll burn your country while you watch, then I'll torture your family until they beg for death!"
I see that my blow hits him squarely, burning his eyes and face, the only part not protected by his armor. I jump and aim another attack at his face, but Apocalypse, even blind, dodges the blow to deliver another punch. I twist my body to dodge the punch and try to cut his eyes again, but Apocalypse defends with his arm.
Seeing that physical blows aren't working, I let go of Sigel, jump, and grab his head with both hands, hitting his nose with all my strength.
The blow seems to have had an effect when he takes several steps back. I grab Sigel once again and throw it, hitting his chest and releasing a blast of light and heat that sends him through the same walls I destroyed, making him return to the room where the fight began. As I approach him, I see that his armor doesn't even have a scratch.
(This won't work.)
As I'm about to try another idea, I feel a projectile hitting my left flank. I look to the side and see one of my own men standing with black armor, aiming his weapon at me.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?"
My anger subsides when I see a large hole bleeding in the man's belly who hit me, he was dead.
"How is this possible!?"
"HAHAHA, did you like it? I knew your soldiers had incredible technology, but no one has ever been able to capture it, so I manipulated their armors and now I have total control over these sacks of flesh."
Getting up from the ground, I see that his wounds are almost fully healed. Not only does he get up, but also several of my dead men rise from the ground like zombies and aim their weapons at me.
" A king killed by his subjects is nothing new, but a king killed by his dead subjects will be!"
I spin Sigel, releasing a ring of golden fire around me that expands, hitting my dead men.
"What a cruel act against your own men," Apocalypse taunts me.
Soon, there's nothing left of my soldiers around me.
"You did very well, my soldiers. Now you can rest," I say to my men who have turned to ashes.
(I will kill him!)
My anger and fury make me forget about my safety. I unleash all the power I can muster, the diamond in the middle of my spear shines with purple light, and my body begins to glow with purple and golden light. Two flames of different colors start to cover my body, with a temperature that can incinerate a living being in seconds. Along with the power of the runes enhancing my physique, I can stay in this form for a few minutes before being consumed.
(This will be enough!)
"First, you kill my men, then you ridicule them, and then you desecrate them by using them as puppets, En Sabah Nur. I swear in the name of Odin that today you will regret this."
My voice sounds different from usual due to the entity's power in my body. He seems surprised that I know his true name, but I don't care. I advance towards him, aiming my spear at his chest, releasing such an absurd amount of energy that it explodes the entire interior of the mountain.
