Chapter 105 - Good news

Stella POV

"Stella, how are you doing?" His grandmother was rapping on the bathroom door.

I washed my face with cold water and then dried it with a towel. I looked in the mirror and saw myself. My eyes were red, and I looked pale. It was all because of the sight of mutton on the table. I completely neglected to mention that the sight of the mutton on the dinner table made me sick to my stomach.

Since it's impolite to get up from the table before dinner has even begun, I did my best to contain my nausea. However, I had to bolt for the bathroom when I saw the red meat in front of me. What will they think of me now? I must apologize to them for my impolite behavior.

With hesitation, I opened the bathroom door. I apologized for ruining the dinner, bowing my head in embarrassment.

"Stella, I'm grateful that you granted my wish." His grandmother gave me a joyful hug before I could say anything further. I became perplexed when I saw her joy. In my quest to understand her enthusiasm, I glanced over at Ethan, who was casting a disapproving glance in my direction.

What's wrong? I questioned my subconscious.

"Ethan, you should call the doctor. I want to confirm this good news from the doctor." She was still embracing me tightly.

Oh my goodness, what positive news is she referring to?

"Ethan, this is the first time you've done an excellent job." His granddad proudly patted him on the shoulder.

What a great job he did!

"Thank you, Grandpa." Ethan was giving me a fierce glare. I had no idea what the situation was.

"Stella, you need to relax. Also, please take off your high heels." She took my hand and motioned for me to take a comfortable seat on the couch.

"Thank you, Aunty; I mean Grandma." I reluctantly took a comfortable seat on the couch.

"Why don't you give the doctor a call yet, Ethan?" She scolded him.

"Grandma, Stella is doing well now, so why is there a need to contact the doctor?

Stella, do you want to see the doctor?" His angry gaze remained fixed on me.

"I'm fine, Grandma; I don't need to go to the doctor."

"Okay, well, let's see the doctor tomorrow." After calling each one individually, she gave money to the housekeeping staff.

Suddenly, I didn't know what was bringing her such joy.

"Stella, sip this lemon water; it will make you feel good."

"Thank you, Grandma." After sipping the lemonade, I felt better right away.

"I apologize for not telling your grandmother that I don't like mutton." As he sat beside me on the couch, I hushed him.

"Stella, you didn't realize your one vomit caused us so much trouble." A grin remained on his face while his voice betrayed his anger.

What kind of trouble? I still don't understand what he is talking about.

"Oh, Stella, it still amazes me that you will grant my dream. I will soon give me the heir to the Woods family." She gave me a forehead kiss.

"What?" I spat out my lemonade, shocked.

"You misunderstood me, Grandmother." I made an effort to dispel her misconception.

"Stella, you have to take a rest; in this condition, sitting for too long is not good for your health." He interrupted me before I could explain to his grandmother why I had vomited.

"We will come to see you later, Grandma. Stella needs to relax now." He motioned for me to leave their house.

"Where are you taking her?" His granddad inquired.

"To my penthouse." He looked up at his grandpa.

"Are you crazy? How will she manage things on her own in that small penthouse, Ethan? In her pregnant state, she requires love and care." Ethan's feet stopped when he saw his authority.

Oh, so he was afraid of his grandfather. Well, that's good to know; at least this haughty monster is afraid of someone.

"Stella, please join me. I'll take you into his bedroom." Grandma took me to his bedroom.

I was amazed when I saw his bedroom. I don't know why, with such a huge estate at his disposal, he chose to live in that tiny penthouse. Why has he left his lovely family behind and moved in alone?

I would seize every opportunity to spend time with my family if I had the good fortune to move in with this lovely family. Regrettably, I am not currently part of any family. A venomous serpent is all that remains of my family name.

Being with his family was enjoyable, as his grandmother gave me a motherly feeling, and his grandfather is truly sweet. He gave me chess lessons and revealed all of his trade secrets to sway other players. Now I understand how he managed to lose to me in chess so easily. Grandpa taught me numerous strategies for pursuing Mr. Chang in court. I must admit that he knows a great deal about business. I wish to learn so many things about business from him.

"Are you content now?" Shutting the door behind him, he moved into the room.

"Why did you lock the door?" I looked at him with a frightened expression. I don't want to be in this room by myself with him because I find it hard to restrain myself when I sense his presence. I want to avoid going over my boundaries with him because he already has a girlfriend.

"Now, what are you expecting me to do? Tell me where to sleep by leaving my wife alone, as you are my wife and this is my bedroom." He threw himself into the bed and gave me a frustrated glance.

"No, you're not sharing this bed with me to sleep in." In an attempt to get him off the bed, I shoved him.

"Stella, I'm not leaving; this is my room." His large frame did not move with my push. He covered more than half of the bed as he lay down.

"I am not going to sleep with you at any cost." I rolled out of bed and went to open the door.

"Stella, you are free to exit this room." He hugged a pillow, sitting on the side of the bed.

"Stella, is there anything you need?" Grandma was there outside the door as soon as I opened it.

Was she observing us? I turned to look at Ethan, hoping he would respond to my silent query.

"Yes, Grandma, I need water because my throat feels dry." I placed my palm over my throat and feigned thirst.

"Stella, I'll send a housekeeper with a water mug so you don't have to worry about anything. Good night, Grandma." Since I knew I had no choice but to spend the night in this room with this haughty monkey, I locked it from the inside.

"What happened, Mrs. Woods? Why did you not go out of this room?" When I saw him smile, I wanted to slap him in the face.

Oh god, I don't want to sleep with him. I vented my frustrations about my predicament by staring at the ceiling.

"Stella, since you brought this issue into your life, God is powerless to assist you." He blamed my vomiting for his grandmother's misunderstanding.

"That was not my fault at all, Ethan. I tried to explain things to her, but you were the one who prevented me from being honest with her."

Why he won't allow me to tell her the truth is beyond me.

"Stella, don't you see the joy on her face? So I don't want to spoil her happiness." Indeed, he exhibits sensitivity to the emotions of others. After visiting his grandparents, I learned more about him.

"We can't keep lying to her for too long, Ethan, because she will soon discover the truth."

"Mrs. Woods, will you kindly assist me in attempting to turn this fictitious pregnancy into an actual one?" Suddenly, he was above me, staring right into my eyes.

What happened to him? His whispers were enticing, and I could see a twinge of desire in his eyes.
